caretaker Posted March 16, 2007 Posted March 16, 2007 about to start trawling through sites getting quotes, any suggestions please. ta!
Brian Kirby Posted March 16, 2007 Posted March 16, 2007 You'll probably get a cheaper package if you buy the breakdown insurance along with with the van insurance. Try Comfort, for example. The actual vehicle insurance is via Norwich Union, and you can add RAC European breakdown cover for almost any size of van for far less than it is available separately. If you add the cost of a separate Euro breakdown package to the price of any separate vehicle insurance, you'll see the difference.
net-traveller Posted March 16, 2007 Posted March 16, 2007 Britannia Rescue covers Europe west of the Urals and part of North Africa. Deluxe cover is about £120 but if you can claim affiliation with the Civil Service or have any policies with Frizzells/Liverpool Vic you will get a 20% discount. Liverpool Vic do cover motorhomes. ;-)
Mike B. Posted March 18, 2007 Posted March 18, 2007 Hi If you insure your van with Safeguard, the breakdown service including Europe is included in your premium. From personal experience it is not loaded to cover this-Mine was £325 payable fully comp last year with 60% NCB. Don't know this years premium yet but have always found them competitive Good Luck with your searches
Brian Kirby Posted March 18, 2007 Posted March 18, 2007 I forgot to add: with any of these breakdown services you should check very carefully that your van will, actually, be covered. Some have limits on size, some on weights, some on age and some combinations of these. Not all of the happy tribe of telephone sales persons are careful to ensure that the package they're selling will suit your individual needs. Commission rules, OK!
