Bazza454
Interesting piece of news in this months MMM (Carbon Limits p39), that the EU wants to introduce compulsory tyre pressure monitors. Great idea, but having had sets "nicked" off both my Knaus and CRV, at different times/locations, I would be reluctant to buy replacement sets until the manufacturers/designers can come up with an idea that makes it more difficult for them to go walkies.I realise that a determined thief will always find a way but at the moment it's just too easy. breakaleg
Perhaps the eu will send everyone in the eu who owns a car etc a free set? must go now, only i have to feed the pigs and let them out for a fly round. pete
Guest starspirit
Being the EU it will take at least five years to agree a standard and another five to get it ratified and then five more as a period of grace and even then it will only apply to new vehicles. So unless you are in the market for a '22' registration I would not worry too much and just carry using the UK standard pressure test equipment which is a good kick of the tyre followed by the expression 'yeah - that looks OK'. Terrytraveller
I think all of you have got hold of the wrong end of the stick. Now what they really mean is they want to employ another layer of bureaucrats called monitors, these people will be supplied with an expensive car, tyre pressure gauge, expense sheet and gold plated pension. Not sure how you had these nicked, the ones they are refferring to are fitted inside the tyres and send a wireless signal to a monitor inside the car, it will be on new vehicles only. You can however already buy aftermarket ones now for £199 inc. if you want them, rather good but fairly costly, still tempted!BasEdit to add website see www.tyresave.co.uk/smartire.html
