DonB
When we've been to Switzerland in the past, we had a 3500kg van. Now we have a heavier van and our son has moved to Zurich. So could any of you please tell me the practical implications of a go-box which I believe I will now need when this present crisis abates enough to open up travel. Thanks. mtravel
Vehicles less than 3.5 need a vignette (40CHF). Available at any manned border. No Go-box (or similar) for vehicles over 3.5. You need to stop at customs office and buy a permit for (I think) 12 trip over a year. I know that an App is in place but I have no details. Try this: https://www.ezv.admin.ch/ezv/en/home/information-companies/transport--travel-documents--road-taxes/heavy-vehicle-charges--performance-related-and-lump-sum-/psva-for-foreign-vehicles.html As far as I know a trailer needs its own vignette. peejay
Best way to get the heavy veh duty tax is with the viatoll app.... https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=ch.ezv.dazit.via https://itunes.apple.com/de/app/via-road-charges/id1458730525?l=de&ls=1&mt=8 Do be aware that it is a (heavy vehicle) tax and not a toll and has to be paid for every day the vehicle is physically in the country, not just when on the roads. DonB
Thank you both very much as it seems I was on the wrong course. At least now I think I know what I'm doing! All I need now is a big improvement in the Covid situation.
