Ninian
Hi, Just as a thought, I was wondering would it be possible to run my Fridge Freezer from an inverter when off grid to save Gas, or would the fridge just draw to much energy from the leisure batteries that it wouldn't be worth it. I was thinking a small inverter that I could connect to the batteries and then plug straight back into the EHU point. ??????
Les W
I'm sure I read somewhere that gas is the cheapest form of energy for a moho.
Den
Les is correct in saying Gas is the most economical way of running your fridge freezer. You would discharge your batteries so quick. In less than a day.
Robinhood
If you really wanted to run off batteries, it would be rather more efficient to add a switched supply from the batteries to the 12V heater for the fridge freezer, but given that mine has a quoted consumption of something just under 15amps on 12v, I don't think I'd like to go down that route. (Though, the way Hymer have wired my AES fridge, manually switching to 12v will run the fridge off battery regardless of whether the engine is running or not - I might consider using that if I ever get another short ferry crossing. ;-) If left on automatic, 12v is only used when the engine is running.) Ninian
Hi, Thanks for the replies, as I said it was only a thought so that I wouldn't run out of gas when abroad. I'll just carry on as before.
