the prominent lawyer Jolyon Maugham QC said Derbyshire’s Christmas festivities were unlikely to be disturbed.

“The law is useless for moments like this. The police won’t be interrupting the Queen’s speech by kicking in your front door to demand proof of address,” he said. “You only get people to adhere if they feel the whole community is making sacrifices. But that went out the window when we saw what Dominic Cummings was doing – and I expect most of us think other government figures do it too.”

Too little too late. Just like last time. Sage told the government to apply a lock down circuit breaker over a month ago which would have battered the R rate but now its too late. Half arsed restrictions wont stop it now I reckon. At least they cant claim they are following the science anymore. Not that they ever were.

... I thought you were under Krankies rules ??? .

Not when I nip over the border to dispose of my binbags ;-)

But you should be more concerned about the chemically treated sh*te in your American meat if BoJo gets his trade deal.

Ribeye in The Sweet water Tavern absolutely delicious. Probably wouldn’t eat it all the time but heh no one is forcing you.

Enjoy it while you can

Just been watching the Dispatches programme on American meat 8-)

Can see why its banned in the EU

Eg no limit on line speeds so only 2.6 seconds for an untrained employee to inspect a full carcass

They take the view eating the shi*te is OK as its sprayed with chemicals

LOL. It seems to be the Brexit voting areas in the north that are the worst hit oddly. I wonder why that might be? (lol) Not much infection here. None in Bottom Shagna. I think there was maybe ten cases in Barnard Castle and about the same in Richmond.

Careful though as Durham county is actually going down but the south including Dorset is on the rise. Dorset 25% up on previous week. The problem for the north is when restrictions were lifted they were behind the rest of the country as it was the south that was worse effected first in the first wave so the north was let out of restrictions to early really and never properly recovered which might explain why they were first to see cases rise dramatically this time.

The media have indulged in endless speculation and it seesm the BBC got leaked a copy of a SAGE document saying things were getting worse and a lockdown was needed. The media are always putting their own (chosen) "experts" on to give us their opinion too but it remains to be seen what Boris and the Cabinet decide. I don't envy them their predicament when there is so much challenging and speculation going on all the time.

We've stayed more or less at home shielding all year and we've got food supplies etc sorted so I doubt another lockdown will be something we can't cope with. Amazon caters for anything else we need. I feel sorry for the people who are struggling with mounting debts and job threats but I have no sympathy at all for the party revellers, the restriction cheats and the idiots who are demonstrating in London against covid restrictions as an issue of personal liberty because they think it's all fake news.

I am also amazed that there ar so many motorhomers still touring in France and Spain as if there wasn't a problem. A couple aged 40ish were staying with relatives in S France and decided yesterday to beat the French Lockdown deadline by driving all the way to S Spain in one go, before the curfew in that area kicked in. They set off at 0530 made it with just a few minutes to spare. They spent 11 weeks earlier this year parked up in a police compound which aprarently wasn't too bad. They are now settled again near a beach (which seems to be the important thing in their lives) and close to a supermarket so they are more than happy. Presumably they have savings as well as their old Hymer, don't need to earn a living so what could possibly go wrong for them that they couldn't cope with, they presumably think?

Actually, that makes sense 8-)

Was it a mistake ;-)

Would like to know the science that BoJo (I'm not on first name terms with the PM like you :D ) has been following.

The consensus from SAGE (and the Labour Party) which BoJo ignored,

was a lockdown a month ago when the full effects if Dishy Rishi's Eat Out to Help Tory Donors & Fraudsters Scam were kicking in.

I have, because Dishy Rishi's Eat out Scam gave them the impression the crisis was over

At least they are self isolating better than most people can

Do you always use abusive comments to express an opinion.

Are you referring to Pelmet calling northerners thick? Its quite Ironic really.

So it looks like another national lockdown from next week. Sage advised for a two to three week circuit break in September and now in November having not followed the scientific advice and the pleas from the opposition to do so once again the Tories and Johnson are flapping as they left it too late again and now instead of a two to three week circuit break which could have been done over half term with schools and colleges also closed they are now going to have to implement a national lockdown. However it appears that this will not include schools and colleges which makes it pretty pointless as its likely they are spreading the virus rapidly.

The potential curves shown on the news just now from the various scientific institutions look horrific. They make the first wave look insignificant.

The world beating track and trace is hopeless as is the governments tier system.

Could it be a bigger mess?

I rarely watch the daily propaganda briefing now, but when I did t'other week it was showing under 19's, i.e. school children, having vastly higher infection rates than any other group, and women from 20 to 40 (most probably their mothers) starting to increase. Any fool, like me, could see that a lockdown including schools over half term plus a bit would have best effect, but what are we expecting? A, too little, too late, lockdown.

The government are like rabbits in the headlights, just like back in march. Thousands more than need be are going to die.

As long as Johnson carries on dishing out contracts and positions to his Tory chums like Dido Harding, what else do you expect? The corruption and cronyism just beggars belief.

Anybody been watching Cummings movements....probably already gone up to Barnard Castle.

You reckon? Ill be in Barney tomorrow for a last Fish n Chips before lockdown. I shall keep an eye out for him crossing the road. My eyesight is not so good tomorrow though I bet so I just hope I dont accidentally run the fecker over. that would be tragic.

Meanwhile some good and amusing responses to todays news.

The Nadine Norris one is a goodun (near the bottom). (lol) They cant really call Starmer Captain Hindsight now either really seeing as he has been suggesting this for some time now.

Pelmetman are you ashamed of where you come from? Is that why you envy Northeners so much. I didn't know Scarbourgh on sea was that far south.

Thats Science BoJo is supposed to be following

But lockdown straight after the Eat Out Scam would have been politically embarrassing.
