Help. Desperate for Lockdown Park up.

My gut feeling is that you should approach a C&MC CL site in a location you would you be happy with. They're businesses, and they need the money - and you need a place to stay. Speak to them on the phone and look to do a deal for long-term parking.

Section 4 of the following link

https://www.gov.uk/guidance/new-national-restrictions-from-5-november

refers to businesses and venues that need to close in England from November 5. Campsites are not specifically mentioned, but it seems likely that, if the facilities mentioned below

- indoor and outdoor leisure facilities such as bowling alleys, leisure centres and gyms, sports facilities including swimming pools, golf courses and driving ranges, dance studios, stables and riding centres, soft play facilities, climbing walls and climbing centres, archery and shooting ranges, water and theme parks,

must close, campsites may also need to shut down (or at least not accept new arrivals). Certainly the advice on this website is unequivocal regarding campsites in England

https://campfiremag.co.uk/can-we-go-camping/

This website

https://www.pitchup.com/covid-camping/

has not yet caught up with the in-England 5 November lockdown changes, but suggests that (currently) campsites are

Wales - Closed 2 October to 9 November

Scotland - Open

Northern Ireland - Closed 5 - 31 October (so might have reopened now)

Both of the major UK campsite clubs’ websites now carry warnings about closure of sites during the UK lockdown period and advise on the position in Wales, Scotland an Northern Ireland.

Presumably CL and CS will be similarly affected, though (as you’ve suggested) an ‘unofficial’ arrangement might be achievable.

This gov.uk webpage was last updated on 6 November 2020

Campsites are referred to in Section 4

4. Businesses and venues

Businesses and venues which must close

To reduce social contact, the regulations require some businesses to close and impose restrictions on how some businesses provide goods and services. These include:

- Accommodation such as hotels, hostels, guest houses and CAMPSITES. Except for specific circumstances, such as where these act as someone’s main residence, where the person cannot return home, for homeless people, or where it is essential to stay there for work purposes

The COVID-19 rules for Wales are explained on the following webpage (last updated on 6 November 2020)

https://gov.wales/coronavirus-regulations-guidance#section-46351

Can I take my caravan/motorhome to stay in a caravan park?

Yes – caravan parks are able to open to Welsh residents. Parks are able to open their toilet, shower, pot wash and laundry areas for caravanners and campers, subject to measures being in place to ensure physical distancing and appropriate cleaning.

Can I go camping?

Yes – campsites are able to open to Welsh residents. The toilet/shower blocks, pot wash and laundry areas for campers will also be open subject to measures being in place to ensure physical distancing and appropriate cleaning (on GOV.UK).

Who can I stay with in holiday accommodation such as hotels, tents, caravans or self-catering accommodation?

You will only be able to share holiday accommodation with the people you live with. This helps to reduce the risk of coronavirus being transmitted significantly, as sleeping in close proximity to other people carries a high risk of transmission due to the length of time you spend near each other.

Trevor last posted on this thread on 2 November. It’s quite likely that, by now, he has found somewhere to stay during lock-down, so it would be useful if he could confirm whether or not he needs further suggestions.
