freeflow Posted November 7, 2020 Posted November 7, 2020 Has anybody used this stuff Soudal Carbond 940FC before is it any good? Datasheet pretty much the same as Sikaflex®-512 https://www.soudal.co.uk/pro/products/sealants/polyurethane-sealants/carbond-940fc/carbond-940fc-black-310ml (There was something wrong with the link you provided, so I’ve replaced it with a Soudal link I’ve checked works - Derek Uzzell)

witzend Posted November 7, 2020 Posted November 7, 2020 freeflow - 2020-11-07 8:08 AM Has anybody used this stuff Soudal Carbond 940FC before is it any good? No but used this by same manufacturer https://tinyurl.com/y4o4okmm for many different applications including fixing solar panels to vans roof
teccer1234 Posted November 7, 2020 Posted November 7, 2020 In the past I've bought Sikaflex®-512 but usually only need some of the tube and no matter how I seal the cap after use within a couple of days the rest has gone solid, is there anyway to save half a tube in future.
Derek Uzzell Posted November 7, 2020 Posted November 7, 2020 Soudal Carbond 940FC was mentioned on the Westfield Sports Car Club forum in 2015 - so the product has been around for a while https://forum.wscc.co.uk/forum/topic/116397-polyurethane-sealant/ Alternatives also suggested there were SIKA Sikaflex 221 U-POL Tigerseal Wurth Bond+Seal Everbuild Puraflex 40 I can only find one on-line review of Carbond 940FC (though admittedly I haven’t looked too hard...) Fantastically strong bond, quite hard to squeeze from tube, had to cut nozzle very large, but used to glue roof skin into a trailer. After 24 hours removed clamps, no sign of cracking or peeling, felt a very very solid bond. Will definitely be using again... There are a couple of YouTube videos on the Soudal Fix All High Tack product witzend referred to (Perhaps someone on the Practical Caravan forum has practical experience of Carbond 940FC ;-) )
Derek Uzzell Posted November 8, 2020 Posted November 8, 2020 Incidentally, I notice that the "Sikaflex-512 Caravan” product that's been mentioned many times on motorhome forums over the years is now called "Sikaflex 522”. https://www.uksealants.co.uk/sikaflex-522-caravan-sealant-adhesive.html?gclid=EAIaIQobChMI8fbyqbvy7AIViK3tCh0w0Q26EAQYAyABEgLdYfD_BwE Comparing SIKA datasheets for the two products indicates that this change is not simply a renumbering exercise and that 522 should be superior to 512 Caravan in several respects. Like Sikaflex 512 Caravan, Sikaflex 522 is only marketed coloured white.
Paul- Posted November 8, 2020 Posted November 8, 2020 I also use soudal fix all high tack on different things, from fishpond liners thats exposed to all weathers to writing the house numbers on wheelie bins. I buy mine from a firm who specialise in selling PVC building products
Derek Uzzell Posted November 8, 2020 Posted November 8, 2020 I notice that the Practical Caravan forum has suggested Soudaseal RV61 - this is available in black, white or grey colours and the Soudal data sheet is here https://www.thegluepeople.co.uk/datasheets/pdf/Technical%20Datasheets/Soudal%20RV61%20-%20TDS.pdf
