Geoff Bell
When checking out possible sites and cl's I always have a look first at the local area by Zooming in on virtual earth. It also gives me an idea of how the site looks and what the surrounding roads and lanes are like. Go to http://local.live.com put in the post code of your site click on aerial or hybrid if you want road names superimposed and zoom in.

derek500
The maps are so old!! I looked for my house in Bicester. They started building it in 1999, we moved in in May 2000, sold it and moved to Spain in 2003. It's now 2007 and in the photo it's still an empty piece of land!! So much has happened since that photo.....
Guest starspirit
My bungalow was built in 1984 and does not show on Google Earth although it does show nicely on Google Map which is an altogether brilliant online navigating tool
GJH
I normally use Flash Earth - http://www.flashearth.com/ You can select between Google Maps and Microsoft VE Maps. Depending on the area one or other is usually better quality and/or more up to date. There are other map options but, in the main, they appear to be USA oriented.
