Barryd999 Posted November 13, 2020 Posted November 13, 2020 Good riddance. A truly sick and evil individual.
John52 Posted November 13, 2020 Posted November 13, 2020 .. and yet he had a pretty wife, and even got offers of marriage whilst in prison
Birdbrain Posted November 13, 2020 Author Posted November 13, 2020 John52 - 2020-11-13 3:57 PM .. and yet he had a pretty wife, and even got offers of marriage whilst in prison "pretty" women gave Sutcliffe no sexual pleasure ... He gained his pleasure in other ways ... I worked for one of the main fellas in charge of the case after he retired and if I gave his name you'd prolly recognise him ... He told me things I never knew about Sutcliffe and his "pretty wife"
John52 Posted November 13, 2020 Posted November 13, 2020 Well he was undoubtedly attractive to at least some women I've no idea why, but he was He even had several writing to him in jail, and played one off against another. I read a statement from the working girl that got away. She was walking across to a guy in a Morris 1100, when Sutcliffe pulled up in his Ford Corsair She must have thought Sutcliffe looked better, so turned and went to Sutcliffe instead. So much for female intuition :-S Best thing I could say for him is he wasn't the worst killer because he dispatched his victims quickly But he angered me more than any other because he was a lorry driver, as was I at the time, and I felt he had let us all down >:-(

So if he had been an ice cream driver you wouldnt have felt so bad ... What a dummy ... He let the whole male population down
Bulletguy Posted November 13, 2020 Posted November 13, 2020 Not long after they'd caught Sutcliffe a guy at my workplace told me his double worked in one of the other blocks. Took me over to where he was and it sent a chill down my spine.....absolute double. That convincing the poor bloke had been questioned during the search for Sutcliffe. The case broke the guy heading the investigation, George Oldfield, who was taken down a rabbit hole by "Wearside Jack", a Sunderland alcoholic hoaxer who police eventually caught in 2005 and jailed for eight years. Oldfield was taken off the Ripper case after suffering a heart attack and died four years after Sutcliffe was jailed.
John52 Posted November 13, 2020 Posted November 13, 2020 Birdbrain - 2020-11-13 7:06 PM . So if he had been an ice cream driver I can't remember any proper ice cream drivers. When the Tenements were pulled down, the new estates had no shops, not sure why. Nearest shop was miles away. People bought ice cream because they had no freezer, generally had no fridge or car either. So a few enterprising ice cream drivers started selling bread and milk. Then found booze, fags, possibly drugs, more lucrative. So called 'Ice cream' van ideal for shifting knocked off gear. When others saw how much money they were making they got a so called ice cream van too, and the turf wars started . It was mostly bluff & bluster, but not always >:-)

When we look at the evidence they had it looks incredible he wasn't caught sooner. Because we see the evidence all together. But we have to remember it was all buried under tons of nonsense, and they had no computer to sort it. Then, as now, folk suspected single loners first. They got thousands of calls and letters every day with such nonsense as 'I saw a weird looking guy in Gateshead market last week, you should take a look at him' *-)

Forgot to mention the guy at my workplace who'd been hauled in for questioning, he got that sick of folk staring he shaved his beard off and tried changing his hairstyle. I saw him before that though and the resemblance was chilling. Just been reading about the son of one of Sutcliffes victims whose been in contact with Sutcliffes brother. People like this are also victims but often forgotten......relatives of the women Sutcliffe murdered as well as his own family. Must admit it's first I knew of him having a brother. I knew about Sutcliffes wife but didn't feel much empathy with her after reading she kept in touch with him for some time after he'd gone to prison. https://tinyurl.com/yxtl9mu9

Blaming herself? Trying to understand? Unlike the others who visited him and even proposed marriage when they knew of his crimes. But she unwittingly enabled him Like Rosemary West, Maxine Carr etc, she was very pretty in those days Folk thought he wouldn't be going after women & kids when he's got her at home

StuartO Posted November 14, 2020 Posted November 14, 2020 Sad that the killer’s name is well known and he even has a nickname which tends to glamorise his sinister acts, yet his victims had been generally forgotten until a roll call was done as part of the renewed interest in the killer because he died. I think we need to find a way to prevent people who commit crimes like these ever gaining personal attention of any kind from their deeds. For example the nurse who is facing trial for killing infants in Chester has already been named and had her picture published nationally. This should not happen.
