Barryd999 Posted November 18, 2020 Posted November 18, 2020 Only 38% of Brits still think leaving the EU is a good idea. https://www.thelondoneconomic.com/politics/record-breaking-majority-of-brits-think-brexit-was-a-bad-idea-poll-finds/17/11/?fbclid=IwAR20_2ON85dOINMSSezPAypt3kcKAKQoTH9r6W0J7RHhDWpFFT65EEWjG98 Of course its too late now but Johnson and co are going to have their work cut out delivering all the benefits we had before, a raft of new trade deals, better lives and jobs for all those in piss poor towns that voted for it in their droves and £350m a week for the NHS. The Bulk of Brexiteers will be expecting all of this by the 2nd of January I imagine. Lets just hope that instead they dont see the country grind to a halt, price hikes, food and medicine shortages and their jobs and homes lost otherwise I can only see that figure going in one direction. Good luck Brexiteers, you are going to need it.
Bulletguy Posted November 18, 2020 Posted November 18, 2020 Barryd999 - 2020-11-18 1:53 PM Only 38% of Brits still think leaving the EU is a good idea. That doesn't surprise me. Worth reading through some of those tweets from that link too. Of course its too late now but Johnson and co are going to have their work cut out delivering all the benefits we had before, a raft of new trade deals, better lives and jobs for all those in piss poor towns that voted for it in their droves and £350m a week for the NHS. The Bulk of Brexiteers will be expecting all of this by the 2nd of January I imagine. Only expecting? Not good enough.....it's got to be in place up and running. £350m to the NHS every week, building of 40 new hospitals (not refurbed exhibition centres), 20,000 police officers recruited and thats just for starters. No more blame shifting, no more whining EU this or that blah.....they're on their own and it's about time they got moving.
Barryd999 Posted November 18, 2020 Author Posted November 18, 2020 It must be pretty Grim though if you are still one of those that is fully behind Brexit. Its going to be a bit of an arse twitching time for both Brexit voters and even more so those that orchestrated it. It has to be a huge success as turning those figures around is quite important for the Tories. The country is no longer producing Brexiteers, many of them by the time we leave will be dead. The country is however producing remainers, millions of which would not have been able to vote four years ago. Only two things can happen. Either Brexit succeeds and they turn all those remainers into Brexiteers or they or the next government has to admit defeat and take us back into Europe.
mtravel Posted November 18, 2020 Posted November 18, 2020 Barryd999 - 2020-11-18 4:19 PM ... the next government has to admit defeat and take us back into Europe ... Are you sure that, unreliable and selfish as you are, Europe wants you back? We already have countries like Hungary and Poland to which it was a mistake to offer the possibility of joining. I do not exclude that in Europe referendums will be held to throw them out. I don't see why you are being given the opportunity to return.

Well I guess that depends on just how much damage Brexit and the Tories can do to our country in the next few years following our exit. Right now I think we are the sixth biggest economy in the world (we may have slipped further I dont know without checking) so I would have thought with a new broom and a new populace that is pro Europe of course we would have the opportunity to return providing we dont return to the total basket case we were just before we joined in the 70s. Wanting to save my country and not destroy it I dont deem as a selfish act by the way.

Its going to be a bit of an arse twitching time for both Brexit voters and even more so those that orchestrated it. They made their bed so they'd best get used to their own company. Lay down with dogs and you catch fleas so I won't be getting in that bed. They're on their own and up to now everything has been a complete pigs ear. They're too busy still trying to blame the EU for all their woes. It has to be a huge success as turning those figures around is quite important for the Tories. It's already a disaster. It will never be a success and the benefits of remaining an EU member were obvious to me. Not one Brexiter has given a credible explanation of the benefits of leaving. Brian has asked this question many times on here and never got a response. The country is no longer producing Brexiteers, many of them by the time we leave will be dead. The country is however producing remainers, millions of which would not have been able to vote four years ago. Only two things can happen. After the way we've carried on, what makes you think they'd want us back? One thing for sure if ever we did get the chance to rejoin.......there would be no more cherry picking like UK has done ever since being members. We'd also certainly have to join the Euro and wave bye bye to sterling. For sure we'd never have the same benefits as we had before chucking it all down the pan.

We'd also certainly have to join the Euro and wave bye bye to sterling. For sure we'd never have the same benefits as we had before chucking it all down the pan. Well barring a massive change in the Tory party and a toppling of the rabid Brexiteers its likely to be four years before another election. Actually three and a half if its a May election. I guess we will have to see just how much of a disaster it is as to whether Starmer fights that election on a promise to rejoin or at least apply to rejoin. In four years time we will know just how bad its all actually been, the entire mood of the country and politicians may have totally shifted and one things for sure the next generation are all for being part of the bloc so perhaps the EU will have the foresight to recognise that. Once the dinosaurs are gone or dead Britain may be ready to be proper fully paid up members that are in with both feet rather than whinging all the time and looking for opt outs. I dont have a problem with losing sterling, joining Schengen etc. We will have to wait and see how it all pans out.

Just look how quickly the last four and a half years have flown over since it all kicked off on here. I Think its only fair though that we give Brexit a chance. I say we give it to the 2nd of January about tea time.
