_Chris Posted December 4, 2020 Posted December 4, 2020 Does anyone bother draining the liquid in the flush tank over the winter? Our van is stood on our driveway and it was -1°C inside it this morning & 2°C outside when I looked just now. The fluid in the sight glass looks - well fluid, & showing no signs of freezing. Does anyone know what temperature this stuff freezes at. Depends on concentration I know but I don't want to drain it unnecessarily in case we get the urge to go out over the winter. (?)
chas Posted December 4, 2020 Posted December 4, 2020 Drain it out and store the flush in a container, simple job to refill if going away. I forgot to empty mine few years ago and it froze up but fortunatly did not cause any damage to the pump mechanism.

Drain it out and put some in an empty spray bottle then just use the bottle if you go out for the day. But, be careful of any overspray as these products are not designed to be sprayed or breathed in. Far better would be to use one of the dedicated spray bottle liquids such as Thetford Aqua Rinse Spray https://www.thetford-europe.com/gb/products/toilet-care-products/toilet-bowl-products/aqua-rinse-spray Keith.
witzend Posted December 4, 2020 Posted December 4, 2020 Try some in your freezer see if it freezes in there always test antifreeze like that
Derek Uzzell Posted December 4, 2020 Posted December 4, 2020 A GOOGLE-search on "draining Thetford toilets" will retrieve a good deal of information. The draining method (and things to beware of) will vary from toilet model to model. https://www.outandaboutlive.co.uk/motorhomes/articles/practical-advice/motorhome-advice-looking-after-your-cassette-toilet
