Meantime Germany has gone into strict lockdown from today until January 10th with 9pm - 5am curfew, schools, shops closed and a ban on alcohol. Excellent and an example of the way we should be going.

.

We just need them to make it an EU rule, so BoJo can choose to follow it and blame it on them.

With Cummings supposedly gone, BoJo doesn't seem to have anyone else to dig him out of the holes he has dug now :-S

pelmetman - 2020-12-17 9:38 AM..............................If folk are incapable of taking responsibility for their actions, then that is no ones fault but theirs *-) .........
This is a very convenient, self-serving, argument.

First, how do you explain the high incidence of Covid in some areas if people are as self disciplined as you suggest? Clearly some are not.

Second, this leaves out those who are asymptomatic, but are liable to infect others while believing themselves free of the virus. Even if they self-isolate, they can still arrive shedding virus. It simply is not as simple and clear-cut as you claim. The only truly responsible course is not to mix, because of that risk from the unknown, asymptomatic, carrier. About half of all infections are liable to have been from asymptomatic carriers, so although only about 20% of the population as a whole are asymptomatic, this increases to some 80% in 10-19 year olds.

And as predicted more statements today which pretty much said we are not going to tighten up the Christmas rules but you really shouldnt follow the rules as they are not tight enough! (lol)

Which translates in Mid January to "Its not our fault as we told you not to follow our relaxed rules but you did and now everyone is dead".

The fact that so much time has clearly been spent in meetings not discussing the best way forward to protect the country, the NHS, the vulnerable and the vaccine roll out but on how we can best distance ourselves so the inevitable third wave does not look like its our fault speaks volumes about this government.

1) If folk are incapable of taking responsibility for their actions, then that is no ones fault but theirs *-) .........

2) We are self isolating along with SIL and her hubby before they come to us for Christmas ;-) ........

3) But then again we are responsible Brexit voting adults :D ..........

1) Are you addressing that to all frontline key workers, NHS staff, police, fire and ambulance workers?

2) None of those listed in 1) have that luxury. Instead of selfishly thinking ONLY of yourself all the time, consider others....especially those you will one day expect to be there to save your miserable ass.

3) Plunging the country into trillions of debt and throwing hundreds of thousand of people out of work is far from 'responsible'. *-)
