"Your Prime Minister has achieved a deal which is nothing short of sensational: Legally out of the EU but with full economic access to it – which is the best possible news for the members of the EU, too.

When Boris Johnson was attacked for aspiring to stay in the single market but ending freedom of movement, he famously responded by saying: ‘My policy on cake is pro having it and pro eating it.’

Well, all I can say is, I wouldn’t be surprised if – when news of the deal broke on Thursday – No 10’s Comeback Kid helped himself to a large slab of Victoria sponge."

I have to wonder why you as a "no dealer" are so excited about this deal before you understand the detail. It appears to be a million miles away from the Brexit you wanted as it still ties us into EU rules, still requires we cough up a s**t load of money, gives away our fishing rights and if the WA still stands which I believe it does still ties us unto the ECJ and the other 40 horrors of Mays deal you still havent read yet. (lol)

On the plus side, its Johnsons deal. He now owns it and has sold it to the public as "his" historic deal, the pro Johnson press predictably have bought into it without anyone yet reading or analysing the detail but I guess that doesnt matter for now. No Brexiteers will read it as they dont do detail but you can be sure over the coming days remainers will. Perhaps thats why you are leaving the forum on the 31 December Dave. (lol)

Normally, Dave treats anything said by a member of what he calls " the Fourth Reich " - with contempt.

Typical U-turn from Dave, when it's something that he agrees with.

Yeah you added that "?" very recently I believe.

It appears us losers were right. No deal was dead as in Mays deal which Johnson sold us as his Oven ready deal with a border down the Irish sea and now it seems a trade deal both of which are massively in favour of the EU. So yes, no deal is dead. No deal being the only outcome you salivated over for over four years. Now it seems you are joyous about a trade deal none of us have even read yet or the media. I would hang fire if I were you because as always the devil will be in the detail.

Crap. For that to have been true you would need to have written "No Deal? Day". The way you wrote it it is the date that is questioned, not no deal! S'English, innit! Oh dear! :-D

But, but, but! :-D As the agreement has now been sanctified by none other than Alexander, Count of Schönburg-Glauchau,(see here: https://tinyurl.com/yc2mpsvw ), a populist journalist engaged by the Mail as "Editor at Large" (AKA paid contributor), Dave sees the deal no-one outside government (including Count von Schönburg-Glauchau) has yet been able to read, as flawless. 8-)

It might be more convincing had Count von Schönburg-Glauchauit's opinion piece been commissioned by a paper like the FT, but in the pro Brexit Mail, a paper renowned for its spinning and twisting of issues to suit its own agenda, and that of its readers? The other worrying thing is Boris' enthusiasm for it, so great is his need for this "victory" I doubt he'd say it was deficient if it comprised 1,200 totally blank pages! :-D

I'll hold judgement until some proper journalists and economists get their teeth into it, and give us a full warts and all appraisal. It's just that wee omission of the 80% of our economy that is "services" which bugs me at present! :-D

Having said all of which, I sincerely hope this agreement isn't just another Brexiteer unicorn dreamed up to save face when confronted by hard reality - because if it is, we're all deep in the doo doo! However, I mustn't be a spoilsport, Dave's happy. It's just I can't somehow work out why that doesn't reassure me! :-D

A looney left wing deal.

There's some very happy Germans and French, but typical sales talk keep telling the other side they have got a very good deal.

Manufacturing which the EU sell to us, has only a bit more paperwork.

Services which we sell to EU is dead in the water as far as jobs are concerned.

The French and Germans have been trying for a long while the wrest away control of financial services from the UK, now they are well on the way of doing that.

And its the end of the EU as everyone else is leaving to get a better deal as a non-member too *-)

German financials eh? Given the history of the Deutsche Bank, I don't think anyone will trust them. The Central European Bank can certainly help business ... as long as they don't mind waiting months for a decision. The French? Do theey have any money to lend?

That tiny matter of Services wont bother Brexiteers Brian as its just about banking or summat like that. They cant see it or fish for it or win it back from the mitts of funny foreigners so it dont matter.

The deal was supposedly 2000 pages long the other day, now its 1200. One things for sure then. Johnson wont have read it. I wonder who actually did put it together. Dont matter, he owns it now.

Precisely, the European banks couldn't compete against our banks. After 2016 British banks set up offices across Europe, up till now these have been minor operations just in case we didn't do a deal on services, now that is the case, these offices will handle all services across Europe, whereas before all monies came back to UK, now just a bit off the top will come back. I'm all right jack, and will see little if any reduction in income, but the UK economy will see much less.

Unlike you Malc isn't and never has been a hypocrite. He highlighted what was obviously a clear case of blatant hypocrisy from you after you posted a DM article written by a German reporter.....a nation you've referred to numerous times as "the Fourth Reich".....yet you're cock-a-hoop with glee over the DM article because it's favourable to Johnson.

THAT'S what makes you such a hypocrite.
