The government is trying to argue that the Union is more inclusive and better together at the same time as suggesting that foreign NHS workers are not wanted here.

What a bunch of incompetents.

So the Left are against us training our OWN NHS staff and Pro stealing other countries health staff in a PANDEMIC 8-) ...........

Just shows how TRULY NASTY they are >:-) .............

Oh its real.

It provides a good distraction for the gammonta allowing the Tories to get away with other stuff, like selling off Channel 4 or stripping the Electoral Commission of its powers. etc etc

Surely this is some kind of joke.

Are the government really starting to brainwash schoolchildren ?

I would assume this is fake news started by someone in the opposition.

:-(

1) Anyone could be forgiven for thinking so.

2) Sadly yes.

3) Nobody in opposition would dream up such a nasty cynical piece of nationalistic nonsense at a time when the country has never been more divided, encouraging children to sing "we've opened our doors, we've widened our shores" when we've done the absolute opposite by shutting our doors and been carrying out dawn raids to put people in prison without evidence or trial, denying them work, state aid and health care, hounding EU workers out of the country, and calling Polish people "Vermin" who should "go back home".

That this has been compared to Hitler Youth is no accident as this is exactly how that began and many media outlets have seen the obvious comparison. All quite 'innocent'....but that's what made that campaign so clever. Using kids to push a political narrative is pretty sick imo.

Well, having looked at the website, I note that the government is not behind it - it's been dreamed up by some retired policeman.

I saw him on telly this afternoon and he explained that the song was written by children.

Being children, they haven't yet tried to get a well paid job, with a good pension, or buy a house - so that explains their enthusiasm.

So, no problem - and hopefully all schools will refrain from making their children to sing it.

:-D

It's been raised in the Commons by a Tory MP (Esther McVeys husband) asking Gavin Williamson if he'll encourage all schools to take part in OBON day. Esther McVey also asked Johnson at last weeks PMQ's for his support which he agreed.

Williamson gave it a ringing endorsement calling it an "amazing project" and said, "it's incredibly important schools take part in it" and told MP's he's asked schools to take part.

Are we seriously telling the school children Boris Johnson didn't want to feed to sing, "Strong Britain, great nation"? This is one twisted island we live on.

That primary school song has got you in a right tizzy with yaself hasn't it ... Meanwhile in another school related issue in Batley a teacher and his 4 kids are still in hiding frightened for their lives ... For once I think your right, this is one twisted island we live on ... Now Im away on the bike to Ripon, did 50 miles yesterday to Rochdale so you have another fun filled day xx

“If you don’t like it, leave,” in all its variations, is a coward’s argument. It’s an argument made by people who are afraid of debate, don’t understand logic, and want to escape the fray as quickly as possible.

“If you don’t like, leave,” implies that arguing for change is not permissible.

“If you don’t like, leave,” implies that dissent is unwarranted.

“If you don’t like, leave,” implies that diversity of mind is out of bounds.

So which is it Pelmethead?
