hi people, our rollerteam autoroller 694 2014 has opaque skylights which we cannot see through ,we would like to replace just the glass/plastic part for clear one without replacing the whole skylight,so we are able to see the sky at night above the bed area our one does come off with 6 screws but we have absolutely no idea where to start looking for just this piece we can find whole skylights but do not want to mess around changing the complete unit, we have no idea the name of the skylight it has a knob we turn which lifts up one side ??? does anyone know if this can be done and where we would get one please !!!!

If it is a Dometic/Seitz item www.leisureshopdirect.com show some as spares also www.jacksonsleisure.com may have something or you could try www.eeco-ltd.co.uk who may be able to help as they make Motorhome/caravan type of windows

I understand the desire to see the stars but ...

... In Great Britain it is always cloudy (smile).

... In South Europe it is better not to have it transparent because the motorhome becomes an oven or a sauna.

In any case, check its brand, in addition to Dometic/Seitz there are also Thule/Omnistor and Remis.

From your description (and having looked at a YouTube video for a 2014 Autor-Roller 694) I’m reasonably confident that you have Thule Omnivent 40cm x 40cm rooflights.

I have one of these (horrid) things in my 2015 Rapido’s toilet/shower-room. It has an operating knob on one side of the frame, a sliding ‘safety-catch’ on the opposite site and there are no visible markings on it to indicate its manufacturer.

This rooflight is available with or without an electric fan and with a white, translucent or transparent ‘dome’. This Thule link shows the no-ventilation-fan version and there’s a downloadable spare parts file and user manual.

https://www.thule.com/en-gb/motorhome-accessories/comfort-and-security/thule-vent-motorized-_-200063

The following link shows asking-prices

https://www.roseawnings.co.uk/shop/spare-parts/thule-vent-spare-parts/

and it will be noticed that a transparent dome + operating device (ie. the raising/lowering arm mechanism) is priced at £122, whereas the white or translucent dome (+ operating device) is significantly cheaper at £81.20

O’Leary Motorhomes were advertising the clear dome at £55.99 at one stage, but are now sold out.

I’m not sure if my Rapido’s Omnivent dome is clear or translucent (though it is definitely not white). In daylight I can certainly see the sky through the dome, though I’ve never lingered in the toilet at night long enough to check how bright the stars are. Either way the Rapido’s Omnivent dome has ‘yellowed’ noticeably since 2015 and - if the dome was the clear variant to begin with - it has now become translucent!

Over the Rapido’s bed is a 40cm x 40cm Mini-Heki rooflight that’s far superior to the loathsome Thule Omnivent. Can’t say I’ve tried ‘starry night viewing’ through the Mini-Heki, but it ought to be OK as the dome hasn’t gone yellow.

A follow-up...

The Thule Omnivent was discussed in this April 2020 forum thread

https://forums.outandaboutlive.co.uk/forums/Motorhomes/Motorhome-Matters/Crazed-skylight/54998/

This link was provided

https://www.jacksonsleisure.com/caravan/rooflights/omnivent

and the cost of a COMPLETE Omnivent with transparent dome was given as £82.95 (+ £5.95 shipping)

Although Jacksons Leisure do not have the vent in stock at present, a transparent dome Omnivent may be available from here

https://tinyurl.com/kd43vrs8

I can’t find any online UK adverts for cheapo new Omnivent transparent domes, so the least expensive approach if a transparent dome is wanted may be to buy a complete new Omnivent ‘transparent’ rooflight, swap the domes over and flog the new rooflight frames + old dome combination.
