These are some of the people who Pelmet claims will be "better off under Brexit" after they've lost their jobs.....but is too chicken to go there and tell them face to face.

The lady spoke with passion and eloquence.....a shame there aren't more like her in parliament as she sums it up perfectly.

If there had been then Johnson would have deselected them, and the Brexpress would have character assasinated them along with the others :-S

Honda factory closed .... Brexit to blame.

Nissan never been busier with huge battery Plant being built for future models .... Brexit to blame?

1500 jobs being created plus ancillaries ....it kind of puts Honda Management in the spotlight.

No matter how much you try to sugar coat it Nissan was bailed out with billions of public funding, sacrificing 3,500 jobs at Honda with a further 3,500 in the supply chain, not to mention the many town centre businesses in Swindon which will also suffer.

Honda management didn't have public funding from UK, neither did we have an FTA with Japan at the time hence fearing Johnsons silly shenanigans and dithering would result in loss of tariff free exports they located back to Japan where they already had fta's in place with the EU, their largest customer base outside Asia and the US. UK has since seen sense and signed fta with Japan.

Under the trade deal Johnson agreed with the EU, 40% of a vehicle value must originate in the UK in order to avoid tariffs. That rises in 2027 to 55% and batteries account for roughly half the cost of EV's so we cannnot import any. Nissans battery plant will be built by it's Chinese partner, Envision, but even with that UK still falls short of the capacity needed long term. Renault also own a whacking chunk of Nissan. I thought you lot were "taking back control" but from what i'm seeing those pesky foriners still have control! (lol)

Honda got similar Grants as Nissan. They are probably regretting what they did now .... isn't hindsight a terrible thing? It is only your warped mind that cannot differentiate between a decision made in a Japanese boardroom and a decision made in a Sunderland boardroom.

Where are the figures for Honda?

Govt had already committed £61 million in state aid to Nissan as post Brexit assurance. They never made that same commitment to Honda yet Nissan blamed “continued uncertainty around the UK’s future relationship with the EU” for its decision to build the X-Trail in Japan. So they were also on the verge of leaving UK, until government threw more money at them.

Yes given Sunderland voted 61% to leave the EU I expect those Nissan employees stupid enough to vote Leave must be fuming they're stuck in a job which is inextricably tied to and reliant on the EU.

My impression is they did it to spite Cameron & Osborne.

They had borne the brunt of Tory Austerity and when 2 Eton Tory toffs tell them what to do they were always going to do the opposite.

When Osborne said Brexit would lead to a fall in house prices it was the biggest own goal of all.

Funny thing is that Johnson is just as much an Eton Tory Toff as Cameron & Osborne, but doesn't talk like them - he certainly got the likes of pelmet fooled.

And Johnson is not one for austerity - just printing money and spaffing it around because he is reckless.

Giving our borrowed money to Nissan, the Brexiteer fishermen etc etc to keep them quiet till after the next election.
