suethedriver
Just got a new to me van with Oyster 2 system . No idea how to use it as my last van had sat dome that just " worked !!" I put it on to do a search and it just swivels round and says LNB failure. I have been on the roof and checked that there are no broken or damaged wires anywhere but all seems ok. If i need a new LNB how do i make sure i get the right one ? i an aware that it needs to be small enough to tuck in when the dish goes down flat again. It is an MTI AP8 - XT2EBL 0.2dB cannot find any same for sale so how would i search an equivilant . Any help gratefully received thanks. *-)
Auditor
Most single LNB's should be suitable.I think that the collar size for the oyster is 40mm, so, if a replacement was smaller than this, it could easily be packed out, to make it fit ok. In case you aren't aware, the "LNB failure" message, could also be a fault with the co-ax cable itself. Often this might be a poor connection, caused by corrosion, so it would be best to check this first, for continuity, or shorts. It is, of course, possible, that the co-ax connection, at the control box end, could be the problem, but less likely, I would have thought. If there are any doubts, regarding the connections, it shouldn't be too difficult to remake them, but making sure that the external end is sealed, against the ingress of moisture.
