Terrytraveller
Just bought the Maplins Wireless All-in-One MP3 player for an amazing £24.99 see http://tinyurl.com/29f9bu It is tuneable through all the FM radio frequencies and although the wireless range should only be 10 metres, it could be heard on a car radio over half a mile away, so my neighbour told me. It has 1Gb of storage which will store just over 250 tracks and the sound is absolutely astounding on the car and a portable radio. I have given it a good soak test and it behaved perfectly over 11 hours continuous play and no signs of overheating. You do need a PC to transfer the music files and to initially charge its battery. After it has been loaded with all your music tracks in mp3 or wma format, you will need a charger in the MH to maintain its power, but you don’t need your PC. I use a cigar lighter USB charger see link http://tinyurl.com/yuzokf £4.99, it uses next to no power. So when in touring Europe and you don’t want to take loads of CD’s with you, or you want some nice background music with your glass of wine, or you are partying this is just the gadget for you. colin
Thats cheap for a 1gb player, think I might get one for the gf, we already have a normal player and its great for holidays, 20 albums on something the size of a matchbox. More modern car cd players can play mp3 tracks, you should be able to fit 10+ albums on a standard cd, so 100+ albums can easily be carried, enough for most people? Terrytraveller
Hi Colin, Yes - we are well pleased with it, to add an FM transitter from say Belkin to my exisiting MP3 player would cost £29, replacing the car radio with another that would accept either USB or audio 3.5mm plug would cost a minimum of £65, so the complete All-in-One MP3 Player with built in wireless transmitter, for £24.99 is certainly good value. The problem with a new replacement car radio with USB input, is many don't have Long Wave (LW), so necessary to receive Radio 4 when in Europe. Dave Newell
All I ask is that you tune its transmitter to something other than radio 2 frequencies, I'd be very upset if Terry Wogan was replaced with someone elses choice of listening ;-) . Bill Ord
Hi Terry, One problem for any purchaser who doesn't travel with a laptop is there is no way of re-charging the player. Only way I could see was via the USB port. Am I correct? Bill Ord
Terrytraveller
Hi Bill, You can charge it up via your car cigar lighter or accessory socket, the cigar lighter USB charger is on link http://tinyurl.com/yuzokf £4.99 , it uses next to no power and increases the range of the transmitter as well, when used connected to the USB charger, when disconnect you will get 5 hrs before the next recharge is necessary.
