Delfy
Hi. I have a gas hob which is showing a very small flame and am trying to remove the top so that it can be cleaned. I think the screws have Torx heads but I’m struggling to find the size. It is incredibly small. The van is a 2008 Burstner Travel Van. I have looked on the Forum but answers are few and from many years ago and suggested websites no longer exist. Thankyou

Derek Uzzell
This 2013 forum thread related to removal of the 'tops' of a Dometic hob's gas burners, and on Page 3 a T6 Torx tool was mentioned https://forums.outandaboutlive.co.uk/forums/Motorhomes/Motorhome-Matters/Gas-hob-burner-problermo/32839/61/ The T6 Torx size was also mentioned in these 2017 threads where Dometic/Cramer hobs were concerned https://forums.outandaboutlive.co.uk/forums/Motorhomes/Motorhome-Matters/Loose-screw-Dometic-hob/46728/ https://www.motorhomefun.co.uk/forum/threads/poor-gas-pressure-on-dethleffs-cramer-gas-hob.160271/ (As you've said that your hob's screws are "Incredibly small", they are likely to be Torx T6 size.) Derek Uzzell
It seems that there's a need to identify what a 'Dometic' hob is !!! Although the links I provided refer to Dometic Cramer hobs and the screws for the gas-burner covers are said to be Torx T6 (which is definitely a small Torx size), this 2018 MHFun thread referring to the burner cap screws of a SMEV (Dometic) combination hob/sink unit https://www.motorhomefun.co.uk/forum/threads/smev-burner-cap-screws-tip.182378/ advised Just a note to others, the originals are T10 Torx headed not cross head, and mine in a SMEV (Dometic) 9222 two burner hob-sink unit are 33mm long x 2.9mm which matches what witzend said. I THINK your Burstner will have the hob shown in the photo attached below. I THINK that's a Cramer hob and, consequently, the screws should be Torx T6 size, But - one way or the other - they should be either T6 or T10. (Given the age of your motorhome, don't be surprised to find that the screws are corroded in place and won't undo.)
Hans
Be sure that their is not any form of loctite used in the screws or bolts. If yes use loctite again.Loctite was invented in the USA, All their Cars were losing this on the high ways. Nowadays they use eccentric means of attachment. But i use it very often. witzend
Hans - 2022-02-06 2:37 PM Be sure that their is not any form of loctite used in the screws or bolts. I doubt theres any loctite on gas burner screws our normal procedure when undoing screws/bolts which had Loctite was to apply heat from a gas torch
