hymer634
Hi, can anyone confirm when a timing belt change is recommended for a 2003 2.8jtD - my handbook is in German ! I think it is at 4 years. Also, any recommendations for a garage to do it within reach of Nottingham. Thanks, Alan

Brian Kirby
You can buy the Fiat Ducato owner's handbook from your local Fiat dealer as a spare. Can't remember the price, but not particularly expensive. You'll probably need the VIN to identify the exact model. As it's a 2003 van (presumably the "facelifted" version) the books should still be available.

Steve OReilly
I have a Peugeot Boxer based motorhome with the 2.8 HDI engine which I am given to understand is identical to the 2.8 JTD. Peugeot UK have consistently failed to inform me of the belt change mileage/time. I asked my garage who consulted their web-based 'oracle' and it is 75,000 miles for normal usage, 60,000 miles for extreme use or 10 years, whichever occurs first. mikemoss
Call me over-cautious if you like, but having suffered the consequences of a timing belt failure on our previous Merc estate (it killed it, stone dead, for ever) I've just had the belt and tensioners replaced on the Bessie E695 we bought last year. The previous owner had left a hand-written note saying the belt had been changed in 2004 at 61,000 miles. Now I've had it done all over again three years and 11,000 miles later just to be safe, rather than sorry. Once bitten, twice shy maybe but I'd rather be certain that the job's been done. passionwagon
8-) Ten years is too late. The materials in the belt detiorate and five years is best practice. You have been warned >:-) ;-)
