TPatrickK
Where my ignition key fits in to lock on steering wheel there is a little plastic tab that sticks out. I am probably being a bit thick, but does anyone know what this is for? Couldn't really get good picture of my actual key slot, so pinched this one off internet. Robinhood
...assuming a vehicle older than 2007, it will be the parking light "detent". Push the tab in and turn the ignition key in the opposite direction to starting, and it will turn on the parking lights.
TPatrickK
Thanks for that. My van is 2013 and there is no mention of that in the handbook at all. Best wishes.
Robinhood
...for models later than 2007, and if the tab is red, it's probably the battery-disconnect function (not present on all versions) that functions as the previous models parking-light switch (i.e. press the button and turn the key in the opposite direction to normal). If it does nothing, then I suspect they've simply used a standard ignition lock without installing the disconnect function.
TPatrickK
Thanks for additional information. I will have to experiment to see if it actually does anything.
