eddie123
I would appreciate some help regarding the rules for touring UK and abroad regarding the use of a bike rack. I noticed that Outdoor World advertise a 50cm square striped reflector and state it is a legal requirement in "some" Eurpoean countries. Help anyone? cheers Ed
Brian Kirby
To the best of my knowledge this is required in Spain, Portugal and Italy. So far as I know it is not a legal requirement for France. Other countries I do not know about. However, whenever we carry the bikes we also carry the sign, because that seems safer than trying to argue the point with a policeman - who probably knows his countries laws better than we do! Many others appear to do likewise.
Peter42
I Have always used one of these boards on the continent and often home here. I always understood that they WERE a legal requirement in France, and as Brian says, who wants to argue with the local gendarme or policeman on a matter of law? For the price of a piece of plastic, it not worth the bother! :-D
