Growing old

I lifted this from Motorhome Facts

I think it's very funny, as I've been there, done that and lost the T shirt.

To commemorate her 69th birthday, actress/vocalist, Julie Andrews made a special appearance at Manhattan's Radio City Music Hall for the benefit of the American Association of Retired People

One of the musical numbers she performed was "My Favourite Things" from the legendary movie "The Sound Of Music".

Here are the lyrics she used:

Maalox and nose drops and needles for knitting,

Walkers and handrails and new dental fittings,

Bundles of magazines tied up in string,

These are a few of my favourite things.

Cadillac's and cataracts and hearing aids and glasses,

Polident and Fixodent and false teeth in glasses,

Pacemakers, golf carts and porches with swings,

These are a few of my favourite things.

When the pipes leak,

When the bones creak,

When the knees go bad,

I simply remember my favourite things,

And then I don't feel soooo bad.

Hot tea and crumpets and corn pads for bunions,

No spicy hot food or food cooked with onions,

Bathrobes and heating pads and hot meals they bring,

These are a few of my favourite things.

Back pains, confused brains, and no need for sinnin',

Thin bones and fractures and hair that is thinnin',

And we won't mention our short shrunken frames,

When we remember our favourite things.

When the joints ache,

When the hips break,

When the eyes grow dim,

Then I remember the great life I've had,

And then I don't feel soooooooo bad.

(Ms. Andrews received a standing ovation from the crowd that lasted over four minutes and repeated encores.)

Hi,

Growing old doesn't seem like much fun....but it seems preferable to the alternative.

My wife hates "Summer Wine", she suspects I'm turning into Compo

602

Funny that. Mine suspects I'm turning into Compost - judging by the pong from my feet after a hard day working at her job sheet.

At 75 I keep going just for spite, my wife says I am 'in denial'. I don't see how she can say that, I am not in Egypt, and would not dream of going 'in the Nile'. I spent my life earning my living on the water, so would not jump in it. Main snag:- no one will rent me a car, so if no bus route it is a taxi.
