Basil
As I am not an aficionado on this subject and so only going by what I have read from others posting on this forum. I would be suspicious of them due to their apparant lack of knowledge of the requirements for registration in the UK, i.e. on the 'Our Service' page under 'Accessories and Installations' sub heading 'General' the first two points are suposedly 'not compulsory' whereas there has been much discussion and forum members being stopped from registering their vehicles for not having these two things done. Why would that make me wary? They should be aware that it is compulsory soI believe that they should be carrying these two things out as part of the deal not charging extra to do it!! Brian Kirby
It's their fault, of course Basil, but I think they've garbled what they mean. What I think they're trying to say is that if you haven't bought a van from them, but have one that is already registered in UK, they will charge their advertised rates to supply/install the items listed. There is another outfit called "Go European" that also offers to source vans in Europe (mainly Germany) to order, and transport them to UK, that has almost carbon copy statements on this subject. It would be interesting to know if anyone has experience of them, as well. The third firm I am aware of is Bundesvan, and I've now had three very favourable reports of their service, although their vans are driven to UK, not transported. In the case of the headlights, as we now know, if the vehicle has already been registered someone else perjured themselves doing so, and masks/beam benders can be used for MoT purposes instead of changing the lamps. In the case of the speedometer, however, I believe we have established they are just plain wrong! However, even if one had to get the speedo and lights changed at one's own expense, they still appear to deliver you a very much cheaper van than would otherwise be available in UK, so I suppose it isn't too much extra to spend to smooth off their rough edges. A bit shaky, then, but apparently cheap!
Guest JudgeMental
Do it yourself and cut out the middleman, plus I would rather transfer monies directly to a reputable dealer. yes they do exist - but you may have to go to Europe to find one :-S Identify which van you want, visit manufacturers web site and locate dealers, call and get a price from at least 4-5. Be brazen, if you dont ask for a discount you won't get one... look on www.mobile.de for new models in stock and avoid waiting. there is always availability even with new popular "van" models from Hymer, hobby etc... what are you after? and yes you will need to change speedo - my Ford Transit based van cost a total of £270 at local dealer 2 weeks ago - not bad considering I saved well over £8000 on Brownhills prices. Thai Bry
Hi If not doing it yourself, another |UK based company is |Edge Hill motors in Mansfield. They mainly specialise in Hymers - I think. But they do look and locate the vehicle spec that you want and help to import it for you. Good luck hunting!! Thai

That, to me, suggests that they may not be as proffessional as they could be and leaves an underlying question mark as to their overall worth, what other corners might they cut.I think I agree with you Judge, if I was in the market for a left hooker I would follow your lead and the others that have done it.Bas
