Finding a camper book - with a difference

Hi,

Does anyone have a camper book which has the following information on the following pages:-

France: p.150 - Lille  - Boulevard de la Liberté

France: p.156 - Nancy - Port de Plaisance de Nancy/Saint Georges

Germany: p.287 - Celle - Wohnwagen Stumpf

Germany: p.304 - Bielefeld - Wehmeyer&Castrop VW-Audi garage

Many thanks

If I had it I wouldn't be asking, now would I?

It's just that I have GPS co-ordinates for camp sites in Europe but they also refer to pages like the examples above.  If I can find which book they refer to I may be in a position to make them available.

Thanks Eddie.  I've also checked Camping Card ACSI and they don't correspond to that either.

They appear to be Aire type venues but for a page number to be quoted there must be somewhere we can read about the facilities?

If we track down the publication I'll make the POIs available to people . . . . or you can have a copy and wing it.

w2go;

Its not in the Bordatlas.

Theres a link to wohwagen stumpf no mention of a stellplatz there...

http://www.wohnwagen-stumpf.de/

Can't find a link for the one in Bielefeld and theres not much there to go on for the French ones.

Longshot - Could it be something to do with dealerships that have motorhome emptying facilities ? Or do you have any others that can cancel this theory out?

Thanks for the feedback. I've stumbled across some GPS co-orginates for 'campsite/overnight' locations in the format as per my original posting (exept I have the lat/long as well). As there is a page number mentioned I was just wondering whether it struck a chord with anyone? Before going to the lat/long co-ordinates I was wondering whether the page reference gave a description of the venue. The items in the opening piece were randomly picked from the list.

Oh well, thank you all for looking. I'll check out the locations when I'm next over there.

I tried to insert a snapshot of the locations to the east of Cherbourg but it won't allow me to use the 'Insert Image' bit.

It allows me to preview it but I don't know how to show an image.

Thanks for your time and help.

W2G,

I suggest you contact Chris or Mel at Vicarious Books - they specialise in books and guides for campers. They are at:

www.vicariousbooks.co.uk

If they haven't got the answer, then the book is no longer available!

Have you checked the ages of the references?  For instance, right click: properties.

I wonder if their origins may be several years old; in which case, with each new edition of the guide/s, as new aries are added, and old ones removed, the survivors will tend to change pages.  Same aires, but now on different pages in the current guide/s.  You could be on a bit of a wild goose chase!

Brian,

A point - a bit like the Berlin camp site that TomTom sent us to last year. The address turned out to be a block of flats and, from the shrapnel holes, they'd been there quite a while . . .

Wot, a pre-war campsite!  Amazing!  Is it of historic significance, and has it been listed by the German equivalent of English Heritage, or have the flats obliterated all traces?  Job for Time Team?

I've just flown over Europe in my Google craft and found refs (maybe not the right ones but hey, - see where the road takes you) for 3 of your queries. Couldn't ref port de plaisance.

I've attached some pics but I think there's an upload limit on this site so they're not too clear. But if they're the right ones Weimeyer 52:03:21:37 N 8:33:45:33 E and Stumph (sorry no co-ords) look near water. Lille looks like centre of town.

Way2Go - 2007-05-18 4:18 PM They say 2007 Brian.  I'm going to try to attach the French one if you fancy checking it out in AutoRoute.  It's in a CSV format.

No, couldn't get anything off the file.  No properties on the linked spreadsheet.  Oh well, just an idea!

Hi all,

This is a little off the thread, but with you all having your guide books out, which is your favorite for Europe (France & Spain especially)?

Was that too difficult a question then?????

No, not difficult, you just need to be a little patient.

Don't do Spain but for France it has to be 'Le Guide Officiel Aires De Service Camping-car' and for Germany 'Bordatlas'.
