Mrs Sea
How easy is it to fit a roofrack to a GRP coachbuilt motorhome? What does one screw it into? Will it not just 'rip off' if anything heavy is put on it - like a couple of open canoes? Where do you get such a roof rack made anyhow? Help much appreciated. messerschmitt owner
I have only had factory fit roof racks (the only kind I would get for a coachbuilt). Is your coachbuilt really grp or is it aluminium sandwich? A factory fit one is designed to take some weight by the people who build the van and they'll know (in theory) where best to attach the rack to the van. If you're after a secondhand van, I suggest you buy one with a rack already fitted - and if after a new one, I suggest the same. Campbell
Mrs Sea
Thanks for that Messerschmitt. Trouble is I've been told these fitted racks are not deigned to take the sort of weight I need and they don't have a roller bar to help me get boats up top. Thanks again
