Elektroblock EBL99

Just got our new to us motorhome and have a question about the Elektroblock EBL99. Looking at the box there’s a kettle lead that’s not plugged in. When is this required to be plugged in? What does this lead do? I’m plugged in to the mains currently and this lead is unplugged. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. C8F14D39-765E-403D-9802-5D7A7936065A.thumb.jpeg.5d849b4b667b1d6162f50542dfff602a.jpeg

It is the mains lead for the battery charger that is incorporated within the EBL unit. You are currently not charging the batteries when plugged into the mains [ at least not from the EBL charger]. It can be left in permanently to trickle charge the batteries [cab and habitation] all the time it is on EHU.

Thanks for the reply and advice Ray. Wonder if that was the issue over the weekend where we were on EHU but our 12v kept going off when we put anything other than the 12v lights on. I’ll plug it in and see how we get on.

An instruction manual for the EBL99 is downloadable here:

As Ray says, without the connection there will be no (standard) battery charging from 230v on hookup.

It might be that the connection has been removed for a reason, e,g. to bypass the internal charger and use an alternative. (This might be connected into the EBL via block 7, but it would be more usual simply to remove the internal charger fuse rather than pull the kettle plug).

Given your described symptoms, it seems unlikely, however, that you have an alternative mains charger fitted.

I've had the same problem with the plug coming out. It's plugged in from below and it fell out after an MOT test when the van is violently vibrated about on that machine to test the front suspension.
