Jack Posted March 9, 2023 Posted March 9, 2023 I have used the search facility, no success. Thinking of spending some time in and around the Netherlands dates can be fluid up until school holidays. Any recommendations regarding places to visit, especially would like to spend 2/3 days visiting Amsterdam, campsites near? Many thanks
Derek Uzzell Posted March 9, 2023 Posted March 9, 2023 The information on this link may be useful regarding campsites near Amsterdam https://lovefor.info/amsterdam-camping/ (As you've said, historically there's nothing on these forums relevant to your enquiries about good places to visit in the Netherlands. Tons of suggestions via GOOGLE, but personal recommendations from motorhomers would be best.)
hja Posted March 9, 2023 Posted March 9, 2023 Have you ever been before? Lots - depends on what you like. A trip across the top of the isslemer is good, prehistory top right of NL, Delph for pottery, lots of windmills, folk museum at Arnhem, cant remember exactly where but round the south of the isslemere was a good museum describing the development of the Poldars. Probably best to get a guide book from the library and have a read.
mtravel Posted March 9, 2023 Posted March 9, 2023 Van Gogh. Rembrandt. Hoge Veluwe. Utrecht. Gouda. Maastricht. Delft. In Amsterfam check for Vermeer exhibition (reservation probably needed). If you have AMEX platinum diamonds.
laimeduck Posted March 9, 2023 Posted March 9, 2023 Jack hello For what it's worth in about 2013 we stayed in Amsterdam at Camping Gaasper to the SE of the centre ( www.gaaspercamping.nl ) on ACSI camping card 2023 €23. A 15 minute tram ride from the centre of Amsterdam. The site was very good then, and we had a very pleasant day wandering around Amsterdam. We also went up to Enkhuisen and the cheesy areas Gouda and Edam. As I recall this was in September/ October and apart from Amsterdam Holland was very quiet and quite damp! Jeremy
onecal Posted March 9, 2023 Posted March 9, 2023 Hi Yes as Jeremy suggests I found Camping Gaasper excellent both for it's connectivity with the city(15min) and the excellent advice on all the attractions within (tickets are available on site, saves standing in the Q) The rates have gone up 2022 rates Motorhome 2 adults plus hook up €32.50 per night You may also purchase public transport city tickets on site €20 for 3 days travel Regards
peterjl Posted March 9, 2023 Posted March 9, 2023 Another vote here for camping gasped. Situated next to a park and lake lovely to walk around.
colin Posted March 10, 2023 Posted March 10, 2023 As we both at one time worked in the industry, Royal Flora Holland at Aalsmeer was fascinating.
