rooster63
Last year in Spain our 3 way fridge struggled to cope. I know Thetford do a fan cooling kit and have looked at various Youtube videos to see how to fit one but unfortunately the actual lay out between the back of the fridge and the van wall differs considerably from any of the guides I look out and I can't figure out how to fit it. It would cost £200+ to get it supplied and fitted by a workshop, not sure if it is worth it. Am thinking of buying a simple clip on fan that runs from a cigarette lighter, it is easy to feed the wire through a window that can still be locked closed. Do I remove both vent covers so I can clip the fan on and direct the air flow? Which opening do I direct the air and in what direction? According to the Thetford guide there is a fly mesh behind the fridge, my van doesn't seem to have any mesh. If I remove the vents am I potentially leaving myself liable for an invasion of creatures unspecified?
laimeduck
Could you not make a simple box for your fan to clip over the vents and pull air out through the fridge rather than blow it in through the vents? No need to remove vents or filters then?
Basil
I used this setup but on a Dometic fridge. The fan unit fits int the top grill very easily. https://www.campervanstuff.com/shop_stuff/index.php?mod=product&id_prd=129657 only needs a connection from the fridge permanent live, works a treat.
