cat7457 Posted March 16, 2023 Posted March 16, 2023 Hi, I have a 2007 Fiat Ducato Ace Milano and the heater control knob is not operating fully. It will only work between half cool and half hot. I have removed as much of the dash as possible and I can hear the flaps being operated but I presume it is either the control unit that has failed or the flaps are stuck. The fan operates without any problems. Either way it looks like a full dash removal and I am hesitant to do that. Anyone had a similar problem and a better solution?
Derek Uzzell Posted March 17, 2023 Posted March 17, 2023 The Fiat Ducato range was significantly revised in mid-2006, so it might be worth establishing whether your Ace Milano is based on the 'old' or 'revised' Ducato base. This is easy to do visually - the upper image below shows a Milano on the 'old' base and the lower image is of a revised 'X250' Ducato-based Milano. This link relates to the 'old' Ducato https://www.fiatforum.com/threads/how-to-remove-heater-control-on-ducato-04.448166/ and these links to the 'revised' Ducato https://forums.outandaboutlive.co.uk/topic/44802-fiat-cab-heater-temperature-control/ https://www.scegliauto.com/en/video/fiat/tutorial/44359/ There's a fair amount of on-line discussion about this type of issue and - although I wouldn't have thought the complete dashboard would need to be removed to address such problems - for both 'old' or 'revised' Ducatos, a good deal of disassembly will be required.
GAVLAD Posted March 19, 2023 Posted March 19, 2023 if your 2007 Ducato is based on the latter photo model (X250) it seems that the heater control dial failing is a common problem. It could either be the actual dial/control - behind it is the switch - that's failed or it could be the heater resistor. - This can be found in the passenger footwell below the glove box. It's a cheap and easy fix if you are prepared to do it yourself. There's a chap on youtube who has filmed replacing one, so I'd start there.
