Mikeandthewife Posted March 16, 2023 Posted March 16, 2023 Was thinking of getting a portable induction hob, to use in the van, instead of the gas hob, when on electrics, any thoughts please
Geeco Posted March 17, 2023 Posted March 17, 2023 I purchased one around 6 years ago, one of the best purchases I have made. It was not expensive around £30. We use it outside the mh next to the Webber bbq. Cooking outside keeps the meat smells out of the mh. Highly recommend them. Cheers,
Mikeandthewife Posted March 17, 2023 Author Posted March 17, 2023 Hi Geeco Thanks, will take a look, we dont cook loads when away, but we've been caught out, without gas a couple of times and wanted a back up, thanks again Mike
tonyishuk Posted March 17, 2023 Posted March 17, 2023 Remember induction hobs need suitable pans. Some older pans may not be suitable. As posted above, useful and mobile. Quite heavy and could be corrected but may be dangerous for those with pacemakers. rgds

Caddies104 Posted March 18, 2023 Posted March 18, 2023 We use this Electric pan, great for a cook up breakfast, paella, chipped potatoes etc
Adiebt Posted March 18, 2023 Posted March 18, 2023 I bought a double hob ( surprisingly light ) and made a cover from perspex that fits over the gas hobs in the MH . We have an induction hob at home so suitable pans were not a problem .

Thanks Keithl. However, the thought process was, if I've payed for electric as part of the pitch cost, then why not save on our gas supply, the fact we've come close to running out on gas a couple of times, just strengthened my thinking, but thanks anyway Mike

Den Posted March 19, 2023 Posted March 19, 2023 We always cook outside and induction is the way to go. cost of a saucepan with a glass lid £12.99 from Aldi we have been using induction for years and of course all our cooking items are induction. superbly quick, cool to touch ( the saucepan does get hot and make the glass top quite warm, but cools quick and easy to clean ) den
stevec176 Posted March 19, 2023 Posted March 19, 2023 If a magnet sticks to your pans they'll work on the induction hob. The pan and hob get hot because the contents get hot and transfer heat

Geeco Posted March 20, 2023 Posted March 20, 2023 If your pans are not suitable to use on an induction hob there is an easy solution. A thin flat piece of steel plate sitting on the hob between the glass surface and the pan allows the use of any metal pan. Cheers,

Sydney1 Posted March 25, 2023 Posted March 25, 2023 We bought the Leisurewise single hob and a set of stackable induction compatible saucepans which were not expensive. We run it off our power pack and its great. Boils 2 mugs fulls of water in a bit over 2 mins on full power but you can also adjust it down to a lower wattage
paulmold Posted March 28, 2023 Posted March 28, 2023 Vango Sizzle only 800w or 1600w for the double one.
Adiebt Posted March 30, 2023 Posted March 30, 2023 Vango double Sizzle for me too , good piece of kit.
