Charles Chodkowski
Early September sees us off to Croatia can any one advise on routes. We are allready booked with Norfolk Line to cross to Dunkerque on September 3rd and plan to meet up with friends on the 8th somewhere on the Slovenia/Croatia border. We are 4200kg and understand we may need a box thingame to use Austrian motorways or can we travel easily on normal main roads or is there a better route? Any help or tips please. Hi Charles, There's a very good write up on a trip to Croatia at http://www.wheelgotravelling.info/CaravanTravels_Croatia.html they are very experienced travellers as you will see when you visit the site. If you want to avoid Austria you can go via Switzerland where it will cost you SF32.50 for a ten day permit for your 4200kg motorhome, that's a lot cheaper than travelling through Austria. The route we often use is Zeebrugge, Luxembourg (Cheap fuel), Strasbourg, Basel, St Gothard Tunnel (no extra toll for the tunnel) Como, Milan, Venice and Trieste. Safe travelling Don
