Roy stone
Hi gents wondering if anyone has come across this problem. I have tried to book a trip to France on Brittany ferries (on line) and they don't recognise my hobby mh Also same problem at the shuttle confused
paul2
I have not used Britany ferries but on the tunnel I always type and size as my reg.no. does not work. Paul
laimeduck
Ditto .... I always put my details in as length and height etc. The registration option just brings us up as a standard Ducato van ... the base vehicle .. not the motorhome. Jeremy
Deneb
Yes, I always enter the base vehicle make and model e.g. Fiat Ducato along with the correct dimensions for my particular vehicle.
Derek Uzzell
If I enter the registration-number of my 2021 Hyundai i20 car into the current Brittany Ferries on-line booking system, the system will 'recognise' the vehicle and provide me with accurate dimensional data for the car that I can confirm are correct. The last time I Channel-crossed with Brittany Ferries with a motorhome was pre-COVID and I'm not sure if their system included a vehicle registration-number 'look up' feature in those days. But, even if their on-line system did have that feature then - if given my (Fiat Ducato-based Rapido 640F coachbuilt design) motorhome's registration-number - the system would very likely not recognise the vehicle at all, or (as Jeremy has mentioned) even if the system did manage to recognise the registration-number, the dimensional data it produced would relate to a Ducato van and be wildly inaccurate. Realistically, what are the chances of any ferry company's on-line booking system linking the UK registration-number of a Hobby Optima On Tour T65 GE motorhome (which almost certainly won't be described as such on the DVLA's database) and producing the correct dimensions of 7079mm(L) x 2.330mm(W) x 2.845mm(H)? Answer - zero chance.
Roy stone
Hi just a quick reply my last mh was a auto trail imala 625 and if I was to send Brittany ferries my reg no it recognised the vehicle?
peterjl
Hi the tunnel plus other ferries, eg calmac, never recognise my vehicle from the rego. I put in Fiat ducato and size manually.
colin
I assume they can only recognise what the vehicle is registered as, our van is registered as a Fiat with a body type as Motorhome, from that they wouldn't even know if it was a Ducato.
Derek Uzzell
The DVLA entry for my last motorhome (a 2015 Fiat Ducato-based Rapido 640F) reads RAPIDO S6/DUCATO and its colour is shown as WHITE. It's quite possible that Brittany Ferries (BF) system could recognise the motorhome's UK registration-number (after all, the DVLA's system recognises it) but there's no chance whatsoever that the BF system could identify from the DVLA entry the motorhome's dimensions. - which is obviously what Brittany Ferries needs to know.
