alistair
In a few weeks we'll be crossing with Stena Line from Dublin City Port, leaving at 0830. Not a particularly early hour, but when we allow for check-in time and especially for Dublin traffic, of which we've already had bad experiences, we wonder if there is anywhere close to the port where we can overnight in our motorhome. We'll be staying at Rush prior to departure time, but have concerns about having to leave at a ridiculously early hour to get to the ferry on time. Any suggestions or comments? Many thanks. paulni
Hi Alistair, the only place I know near Dublin is Camac Valley which is on the Naas Road a few miles outside Dublin. I wouldn't be tempted to park up anywhere in Dublin itself. Not too safe! Paul
davenewellhome
I did once spend a very uncomfortable night in the cab of a transit van on Dublin docks 'cos I missed the ruddy boat >:-( . Nobody bothered me and apart from the general noise of a docks at night which wasn't too bad actually it was OK. D.
lizken
Alastair We stayed on Camac Valley last week Nice handy site - easy to find as it is well signposted from the Dublin ring road. If you go, you need to purchase a token from reception for the showers. We did not realise this , until we went for showers, and then had a route march from the shower block to the reception and back Ken
mom
My wife and I have been practically "living" at Camac Valley these last few weeks. It is a great site, but typical of many Irish sites, there is no soap, almost impossible to find a toilet cubical door with a latch and, yes, those shower tokens. But contrasting this, the staff are nice, the campsite is kept in perfect condition and if you want free "open" WiFi access you are welcome to sit in the reception area or one of the reading rooms. Having said all that, not really an answer to the "overnighting" thread... its a formal site full of late night security.
