Renewing seals: Your advice on reliable worshops please

I would like to renew the roof and gutter seals on our Year 2000 Integrated Hymer S660. There's no sign of internal damp but the seals are moving and with winter coming I want to prevent leaks.

I have access to a barn so can do the whole thing in the dry but before I begin, - has anyone done a similar job themselves? if so, - any hints or tips please.

(The last time I did anything similar was repairing a leaking T strip on my previous van. I had to fashion a special tool to groove out the old mastic and wonder if anyone has found a specialist tool?

I found that fitting the new strip was a two person job, one to squirt Sikaflex and the other to lay in the T strip.)

I note Hymer's recommendation is using a sealant called Körapop not Sikaflex. (Körapop also requires a primer). Does anyone have knowledge of this product? Does it skin as rapidly as Sikaflex?

If your advice is to not attempt this oneself, can you propose reliable workshops who will g'tee the work? Preferred areas 50 mile radius of Bath or Heathrow.

I feel from personal experience that if you are capable of doing it yourself and have done so before, you should do it again. When I bought my Dethleffs A class, the transverse seam across the cab roof was leaking quite badly. I had a local Unipart Leisure Caravan/Motorhome specialist reseal it for me for £150. The leak started again a couple of months later. When I looked, they had broken a screw at one end and not replaced it (Hence it wasnt clamped) and they had used nowhere near enough sealant. I had to remove it and do it again myself-guess what-it doesnt leak now !!

I have no experience of the Hymer sealant, but have always had good results from Sikaflex 221 and 512. Good luck.
