Nearest thing to an aire?

Hi all just back from a tour down south of Cornwall and somerset..wow farm cider....thats another story.

We visited Tintagel armed with knowledge from motorhomeparking website that we could safely park in a couple of carparks.

There are infact about four private carparks that allow overnighting of a self contained m/home varying from £3 to £5 a night.

We were joined by at least 4 other m/homes on the Fore street cp opposite the old post office....a really peaceful night had with no problems.

Anyway is this the closest thing to an aire in this country...we really enjoyed and will be back next time we are down in Cornwall.

When is an aire not an aire? In French terms this would be an Aire de Stationnment (parking only) and not an Aire de Service (which may, or may not have overnight parking).

The landowner of these carparks allow overnight 'parking' without providing service facilities - where does that lie in the planning permission

quagmire?

In view of David Lloyd's and Dawn Roger's laudable and painful attempts to go down the formal planning routes....

If there were a network of such car parks we could always pay the CCC a visit every few days and pay them £5 for the 'service' bit - if it isstill £5 (for a 100 litres of water and the privilege of emptying the grey and black)

Hey ho
