cogobob
Does anyone know of an A Class layout either new or used that has three forward facing seats each with three point seat belts? (not including rear dinette) I've searched hard in vain. If not, does anyone know the procedure for replacing a side-facing bench seat with a forward facing seat with three point belt? Does it have to be done by a specialist and what is the law? I've checked seat belt law but it's the actual fitting of the seat and belt which I am struggling to find a definitive answer on. I'm thinking of a modification to a Hymer B655 or similar. Thanks in advance
w1ntersun
Hi, Finding one with 3 forward seats I would say is next to impossible. Your best bet is a 6 berth with dinette at the front. This will have two forward and two rear facing seats most have seat belts to all four seats Richard
takeaflight
Have a look at the hymer 664 here http://www.edgehillmotorhomes.co.uk/showadvert.asp?adid=173 5 Berth but with 4 forward facing seats. plus 1 side that if not belted I think it could be. Oh I also think they would take an offer below the asking price.
cogobob
Thanks takeaflight but I have three young children in car seats so need the seats to be forward facing. W1intersun, thanks. That is an option which I'd considered. I see this as a huge compromise as the lounge area is much smaller than with a half dinette using the cab seats and other side of the van. I certainly don't think what I want is out there which is why I'm looking at a modification to a standard layout. Thanks for you help guys. Anyone else have any advice? Mel B
Does it have to be an A class? I seem to remember a coachbuilt van, foreign make which had 2 dinettes, a single on one side and a double on the other, with forward facing seat belts on them, giving 3 forward facing seats in the rear. Any good?
Charles Chodkowski
Our Laika 200i is a 7 berth and has 3 belted seats in the rear which we often use with the grandchildren. It's also a very child friendly van with it's full size bunk beds and good storage.
johnsandywhite
B-) Hi cogobob. Perhaps this second hand RV might fit the bill? http://i1.ebayimg.com/07/i/000/ac/93/930d_1.JPG
cogobob
Mel. I would very much prefer an a-class with the front seats incorporated into the lounge/dinette. The double dinette on one side with half dinette on the other is ideal, but not with rear facing seats. I'm being picky, I know.
