Dometic Skyview Roof Window Blind and Blockout Screen

Recommended Posts

G'day Peter = welcome to the Out&AboutLive forums.

I notice that you asked about this (in more detail) about a week ago on the MotorHomeFun forum

https://www.motorhomefun.co.uk/forum/threads/replacement-skyview-blind-for-swift-rio-motorhome.301804/

As you are prepared to have the parts shipped to Australia, you could try contacting this UK company.

There's also this New Zealand advert

but the size might not be correct for your Rio.

Thanks Derek

It is certainly not easy to source the part, The Swift Group in the UK basically have walked away from it. I was put onto Dometic UK but no one seemed to help. Even got onto Remis in Germany. My width is 1200mm and this is quite wide so that may be the problem.

In 2015 I bought a brand-new Rapido motorhome that had four reading lights made by Dometic.

In 2016 I wished to fit an extra pair of matching reading lights, but, by then, the specific light I wanted was missing from the Dometic catalogue. The Rapido factory no longer fitted that light to their motorhomes, but had some of the 'old' type still available at over £40 per light. Eventually, after extensive on-line research, I managed to obtain two lights from a company in Ireland for about £20 each, but these (although Dometic-made, of the same design and having the same part number) were still not 100% identical to the existing four lights.

Swift fitted the Dometic Seitz SkyView roof-lights to their low-profile Kon-Tiki models as well as to the Rio, and Auto-Trail and Adria apparently also used SkyView units.

I think Rio production ceased in 2020 and it seems likely that Dometic have not marketed the SkyView units for some while. The relevant FAQ webpage on the Dometic website mentions "SkyView", but that type of roof-light is not subsequently shown.

You could try contacting Dometic direct

but, if on-line suppliers of Dometic 'window' products tell you that blinds for SkyView roof-lights can no longer be ordered, you'll be very lucky to find someone that has the right blinds for your roof-light still on their shelves.

( Remis would have been a dead end as that company did not make the SkyView roof-light Swift fitted.)
