Electrical issues

Recommended Posts

I'm hoping for some help please as I've been unable to get a mechanic to have a look until June... I've got an imported (left hand drive) Fiat Ducato based XGO 2016 motorhome.

The water pump on our motorhome was not working. Lights still worked fine, control panel lights up. I have a portable battery we use for charging phones etc so we don't use the other electrics much, and run the fridge on gas. I had the pump replaced, but still did not work. Pump light comes on at the panel, but the motor doesn't kick in when I open any of the taps or shower (they're on micro switches). It's got a brand new leisure battery, I've checked all the fuses on the floor power distributor - the water pump fuse had initially blown but I replaced this before replacing the pump. But other than the lights and control panel the electrics don't seem to work.

I've read through the manual and noticed a red flashing light on the distributor, which should be green. I've attached a pic of the distributor and manual below.

I'm not great at electronics, so would be very grateful for any tips or possible solutions!

Thanks,

Paul

Welcome to the Out&AboutLive forums, Paul.

XGO motorhomes are built in Italy by the LUANA CAMP company (that also manufactures the RIMOR and KENTUCKY brands) and - as far as I can make out - the sole UK XGO agency is EVANS CARAVAN & CAMPING LTD at Porthmadog  in North Wales (contact details below)

Your 1st photo shows an ArSilicii ePvL Power  Link R5 unit which I understand forms part of an unconventional and quite complex electrical system. I don't know which version of the system your 2016 XGO has, but this 2006-2007 document gives an idea of its functionality.

I've no practical experience of ArSilicii equipment and, given the complexity of your XGO's system, you might want to seek advice from Evans Caravan and Camping.

I notice that there is an ArSilicii forum, so you might try that too.

Inserted below is an extract from the manual kindly linked to by Derek.

It seems to cover the description of your  problem as given by you, which suggests that there is a failure of the units to communicate correctly.

As is hinted the problems may be due to bad connections at the control panel and perhaps elsewhere.

Taking a cautious approach, I would recommend isolating the system from both BM (starter battery), and BS (habitation battery), by removing the appropriate fuses, which should be close to the respective batteries.

Having taken the above precaution, locate data link connectors mentioned below, remove, apply contact cleaner, and replace.  Restore main fuses, keep fingers crossed and try again.

"The control unit turns on but the distributing elements are not activated.

If the control unit turns on and off correctly but the distributing elements remain fixed in one

status and it is possible to only turn the lights on and off with the entrance switch, it is no

longer possible to control the pump. Also in this case, check that the connector behind the

control unit is plugged in correctly, paying particular attention to the orange and grey wires.

Contact the competent personnel."

Good luck,

Alan
