dawki
I know it’s been covered before but couldn’t really find what I was looking for if I buy a motorhome with 3500Kg GVW but unladen weight of 3050kg or less I can do same speeds on different roads as a normal car I believe if I uplate that same motorhome to say 4000kg will my speed limits still be the same? Keithl
Yes, as long as your UNLADEN weight remains below 3,050 kg (3.0 Imperial Tons). My Auto Trail has a GVW of 3,800 kg and an unladen weight (estimated) of 2,945 kg and I adhere to car speed limits. Keith.

colin
Note, that only applies in the UK, in Europe the 3500kg gross weight dictates speed limits.
Robinhood
I'd say the answer is - possibly (or even probably 😉). If the up-plating is a paper exercise, then the situation (and unladen weight) remains unchanged after the process. If however, the up-plating requires some physical upgrades (suspension, etc.) as may be the case with an increase from 3500kg to 4000kg, then there is a possibility that this would push the unladen weight over the threshold.
