Ammeter

Whilst investigating my battery discharging, ( http://forums.outandaboutlive.co.uk/forums/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=8617&posts=6 ) it occurred to me that it would be useful to have an ammeter permanently wired in.

Good idea - bad idea?

If good, would an old fashioned analogue car ammeter be suitable?

How would I wire it in?

Would it draw any current?

Just a thought

I have a portable ammeter that you just clip on to your live cable and you can read the ammperage when ticking over

I have had this for many years not to expensive you would have to go to a good motor factors to buy one, with this gadget you can clip on to your leisure battery and check this also.
