Way2Go
There have been several threads recently regarding safe places to park for people catching ferries. I for one have benefited enormously from the comments I have picked up in these threads. Therefore, I was wondering whether there was any mileage (pun intended) in compiling a short list as to the availability of overnight parking at the channel ports?I know that a lot of you more experienced travellers go through the channel ports on the way to your favourite Aire but a lot of us newer 'homers like to roll off the ferry and go to sleep without phaffing about looking for and parking at an Aire at 2am.If possible the list could include the main routes such as Dover, Newhaven, Poole, Portsmouth etc along with Calais, Dieppe, Caan, Cherbourgh etc. Also the equivalent if catching the Shuttle. Can you even overnight at Folkstone? This information may be readily available elsewhere in which case could someone send me a link please? Thanks peeps, I'm sure a lot of people would benefit from your advice.W2G

Old Git
Hi Way2Go I put this on Hints and Tips, but it will be just as useful here. The last link may be just what you are asking for. -------------------------------------------------------------- The site is a bit, Ermmm . . "different", but ignoring some of the more geeky bits there are lots of downloads for GPS and Autoroute which could be quite handy. Campsites are here, but may be elsewhere as well - it is a complex site!! http://users.pandora.be/leo.huybrechts/camp1.htm http://people.zeelandnet.nl/sdejonge/archiescampings/page2/ This link shows a selection of campsites near to major routes, and comes as either Autoroute or Excel files - so again useful for planning and GPS. http://users.pandora.be/leo.huybrechts/00frame.htm I find the site navigation a pain in the rear, but worth persevering - and maybe it's just me that can't navigate. Old Git
Don't mind at all - I try not to take myself or anything else too seriously. Hope the downloads are useful - the site is a pain in the bum to navigate, but has some good stuff hidden within.
Old Git
Hi there Way2Go Just came across this site http://gpsinformation.net/ Ghastly font makes it difficult to read, but with your interest in GPS you may find bits of it useful. (It's only just off-track as well, so I may not be chastised by the watchdogs)
