Duetto - Regulator problems

Hi there

We have a 2005 Duetto and have had the regulator fail for the second time. We have booked it in to have the regulator changed (again) and stainless steel hose fitted.

Will this solve the problem if we keep using the bottle mounted lower in the locker ?

It doesn't seem to be so much of a problem in other vans but for those that aren't familiar with the Duetto there is room for 1 x 4.5kg and 1 x 7kg which means you have 2 odd size bottles.

The rear mounted bottle sits lower than the regulator but if using the other higher mounted bottle this from various forums seems to have caused the problems. So will the new hoses help.

Any advice ? not too technical please.

Are you using butane or propane? I have had a propane regulator fail but this was because the small integral filter became detached during the rather awkward gas changeover process. Is'nt the regulator sited above both bottles so cannot see a reason for the problems you describe.

According to just about everybody, replacing the feed hose with a S/Steel one WILL solve the problem, and height of the regulator will no longer matter. The 'gunge' (non-technical term..) that 'bunged up' the wall mounted regs. came from the rubber based feed pipes, especially if left with gas left turned on at the cylinder. It never occured before, because the regulators were screwed directly into the cylinders,or clipped in.

A very expensive lesson in chemistry for lots of people and Companies.

Pity the 'Safety directive' wasn't properly tested before being made universal.

:D :D
