Buzzing from engine when it's not on.not all the time .I had to disconnect battery to stop it

I don't understand what "...when ringing is not on" means, but this on-line advice may be relevant.

A persistent buzzing noise from your car, even when it's off, could indicate an electrical issue such as a malfunctioning relay or a short circuit. It's crucial to have the vehicle inspected by a mechanic to diagnose and address the underlying problem to prevent further damage or safety hazards.

@Leonardcroxallpossibly meant "...when ENGINE is not on" ???

And I would second Derek's advice to seek a professional opinion.

On the 2.8jtd as on many other vehicles the cooling fans can operate to continue cooling a hot engine which has been switched off. The noise would be more of a roar than a buzz, but if the fan motor was partially seized then perhaps a buzz may be possible, but I would tend to discount this with DC motors.

An alternative source of the buzz could be a relay falsely operating due to a fault, and then releasing when the voltage drops as its contacts close.  On many Fiat and similar vehicles, most of the relays are located in the engine bay fusebox, This fusebox is known to develope faults, particularly if suffering from water ingress.

I agree that some technical inputis required to locate the source of the buzzing, identify the case, and take remedial action.

I also own a 2.8jtd, and if it was buzzing, I would be concerned.
