Uncle Bulgaria
We've recently joined the wonderful world of motorhoming and are now starting to spread our wings. Off to France next week for a short stay and doing a bit of touring around the Calais area. I've searched the old threads and I'm sure someone, sometime posted a web site address which enables one to locate parking places in France where one can park a motorhome. It might have been just the aires, but any help much appreciated. Richard.

crinklystarfish
Richard,It's probably the easiest country in Western Europe to find spots to park your 'van. The culture is one of acceptance. You'll see plenty of others doing exactly what you are suggesting. As long as you are responsible and don't act unreasonably you'll be fine. I doubt that you will have any difficulty - we never have. You won't attract a second glance unless you abandon it somewhere really daft.Have a good trip.

Miami
Just come back from this years 2nd visit to France. You won't have a problem finding somewhere to park except perhaps in Calais. Not the best of French towns! We use the Aires during the day and campsites at night.
Ralph
Remember that the "Aires" in the books are only the ones with services (water etc.) and if you are looking for just parking, overnight etc., you need to look for "Aires de stationment" (probably spelt wrong) Try http://www.campingcar-infos.com/index1.htm for starters.
