stevec176
The external locker door locks, similar type to photo, on my 2016 Fiat Rapido are getting sticky, getting difficult to insert and turn key. I've tried using WD40 and Silicone spray into the lock mechanism which only works for a short period. Has anyone found a longer term solution please. ColinM50
To the best of my knowledge, all locks should only be lubricated with graphite and not grease or oil. I have a policeman shaped pot of graphite a girlfriend's dad gave me over fifty years ago and there's still some in it. Same stuff https://www.amazon.co.uk/Kasp-K30050-Graphite-Powder/dp/B00BTOBHH6/ref=asc_df_B00BTOBHH6/?tag=googshopuk-21&linkCode=df0&hvadid=697216659288&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=3775669829586884911&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9191737&hvtargid=pla-613041240912&mcid=67d8fc9ff7ae3d9682151ca6b2cd5df5&gad_source=1&th=
Solwaybuggier
We had a similar problem with some of the external lockers on our last van (albeit with a very different lock mechanism) and I found the graphite powder ColinM50 recommends sorted it. In fact the product he linked is exactly what I bought.
Derek Uzzell
My 2015 Rapido 640F motorhome had the same locks on its external locker doors. The locks are Zadi 'push' type as shown in this advert https://leisurelines.net/1-x-zadi-1052-door-lock-black-barrel--2keys-3509-p.asp Graphite powder should be fine if just inserting/turning the key becomes difficult. My Rapido's locks did not suffer from that issue, but the oval top could be reluctant t 'pop out' when the key had been turned to release the lock. When that happened I used to spray WD-40 DRY PTFE LUBRICANT liberally into the lock's barrel and body: this proved effective and also made inserting/turning the key very easy. https://wd40.co.uk/product/anti-friction-dry-ptfe-lubricant-spray/ (It's my choice for a general-purpose clean non-oily lubricant and I use it a lot.)
