GandJP
Hi All, We have had our Avtex/Garmin Camper 660 for many years now and have found it faultless especially when finding French Aires as we have found the ability to punch in map coordinates never fails. Sadly ours is coming to the end of its life and I have been looking at a replacement but nowhere can I find a mention of this facility not even on the Avtex web site. So can anyone here tell me if their newer versions still do or do not have this setting still? Thanks. Edited August 9 by GandJP
Arthur_
The Camper 660LMT-D looks good if you can afford it at £299.99. You can find a location using coordinates according to the user manual. I'd buy it if I could afford it. Camper_660_OM_EN.pdf (garmin.com)
laimeduck
As far as I am aware most Sat Navs (or navigation Apps) allow you to put in Co-ordinates and rename them if required, so I do not understand your question? Jeremy
Derek Uzzell
GandJP The advice here relates to Garmin's Tourer Two https://www8.garmin.com/manuals/webhelp/rv780/EN-US/GUID-84EFF2ED-9C1C-40BC-B147-C4804B2BE09C.html As Jeremy has said, selecting a map position using GPS coordinates is a standard sat-nav capability and it would be very unusual for any current Garmin device to not have it. (If you could say which Garmin/Avtex sat-nav you would be interested in, it might be possible to check the device's user-manual to 100% confirm that it has the capability. As a 'select via coordinates' capability is pretty much universal for sat-navs, it may well be that Garmin/Avtex websites would not specifically refer to it.) GandJP
Hi Derek, Thanks for replying. Having only ever used the 660 I didn't realise that it was normal for a satnav to have this facility and looking at a couple of possible replacements it just wasn't mentioned at least I couldn't find any mention. I think its their Tourer 3 that I was thinking of getting at about £380 which seemed to be the nearest replacement.

Camper_660_OM_EN.pdf (garmin.com) One to take a look at Arthur, not offered this model when I looked at what was available and cheaper than the one I had thought I would get. Derek Uzzell
The Owner's Manual for Garmin's Avtex Tourer Three sat-nav is here https://www8.garmin.com/manuals/webhelp/GUID-CA7AA54D-CB83-4144-9D67-F6EFCC67D442/EN-GB/RV-Camper_795_OM_EN-GB.pdf How to find a location using coordinates is explained on Page 15 and is the normal Garmin procedure The Garmin Camper 660LMT-D is quite an old model (introduced as early as 2017) and has a smaller display-screen than the Tourer Three's. The Tourer Three has wireless updating, but I think the 660LMT-D does not - and - if you like such things - the Avtex device has all sorts of 'camping' databases built in. Although the 660LMT-D is shown on the Garmin website at £299.99, I'm doubtful that it is actually still available from Garmin. The Avtex Tourer Three is currently advertised online for as little as £375 (including a hard-shell case) https://aimoutdoors.co.uk/product/avtex-tourer-three-bundle/ Unless having a 'camper' sat-nav is a must, the Garmin DriveSmart 66 (EU) is available for around £170 https://www.garmin.com/en-GB/p/720419 or the DriveSmart 76 for about £190 https://www.garmin.com/en-GB/p/720164
GandJP
I think the Tourer 3 is the one to get but do I bother with the one with the dash cam? I am well aware of what they do of course but its another £120 , something for me to think about.

For me in a motorhome I think a camper version is a must but until my present car that has one already fitted I have never had one or any need for a sat nav and in this country I still dont need one but in my camper either here or abroad its a must. Thanks for your help.
Derek Uzzell
Your 2018 Chausson 657 is quite compact for a coachbuilt motorhome (Length - 6.46m, Width - 2.35m, Height - 2.89m) and - based on my own experience of using Garmin 'car' sat-navs in the UK and abroad in similar size motorhomes for approaching 20 years - I'd question whether a 'camper' sat-nav that allows vehicle dimensions to be input would be obligatory. (If you wanted the integrated camping databases, that's another matter.) I also suggest that - if you want a dash-cam as well as a sat-nav - you buy separate devices so that you can position each in the best position in the cab and, if one goes wrong, it won't affect the other.
