Fiat Ducato Cam Belt

Got a bit of a dilema. We are over in the uk to do a camper trip around the uk and europe and have just purchased a Fiat Ducato 2.5TD 1988 Autohomes Clubman.

It has done 91000 miles and I have been told that I should be looking at replacing the cam belt. Unfortunately there is no history of when this was last done, so it is better to be safe than sorry.

My problem is that as of this Sunday the 23rd the van is our accomodation, and at the moment, everyone I talk to is saying that they cannot organise and fit the cam belt by then. The van was originally a f reg.

I would feel alot more comfortable if I could get this fixed before I leave or if not in the first few days of my trip. I am starting from London and heading north through Cambridge. Does anyone have any suggestions or mechanics I could contact.

Thanks ;-)

I can give you instructions to do it yourself. I could do it but not with you living in it on my forecourt. :D

Hi,

My local back street bloke charged me about £40 including the belt to do my 1998 Ducato. I say back street, but he is very well equped.

But when I asked him to do my 1990 LR Discovery, he refused, saying it was the devil's own job to get them right. That cost me the best part of £200 at a LR specialist.

peter.

As someone I know lost a partner in the july bombings in London, I find your avatar Extremely offensive and in very bad taste, please remove it. >:-(

What's my avatar got to do with Cam Belts? >:-) I can assure you I had nothing to do with the bombings in London. So lighten up, it's only a picture of a sad Arab lunatic.

I have seen you looking better Pete :D Quite like the one in the blue shirt!

Anyway at least she told you to your face more than some do A! :D :D

That's what P.M's are for Michelle. No need to broadcast it to the entire world. I'm sure they're not interested one way or the other. :-(
