onecal Posted October 29 Posted October 29 Hi Your very lucky , I am amazed . Which fridge are you talking about Your first fridge or your replacement one? Regards Quote
Derek Uzzell Posted October 29 Posted October 29 My 2015 Rapido 640F was fitted with the same fridge/freezer as Steve's 2016 Rapido 665F - a Thetford N3150A model. My understanding is that Steve's original fridge/freezer was replaced by Thetford within its 3-year warranty period (in 2019?) and, logically, the replacement would have been on a like-for-like basis (ie. with another N3150A model). So Steve's 1st posting on this thread related to the replacement N3150A and, as that fridge/freezer will now be well out of warranty, it is very fortunate that Thetford will be covering the repair costs. stevec176 Posted October 29 Author Posted October 29 (edited) Thanks Derek, that's correct. The first fridge was replaced under warranty in 2018 with a like for like and as the first fridge was 2 years old when replaced I assume the second fridge would only be under warranty for the remaining period. Even if it had the full 3 year warranty it's now been out of warranty for 3 years so I'm really pleased they are teplacing the PCB. I'm now just waiting for the dealer to give me a date when they can do the work. Edited October 29 by stevec176 Quote
onecal Posted October 29 Posted October 29 You are very fortunate indeed I am wondering has anyone else on the forum here received the same for their board on their Thetford N3150A model and willing to place here a copy of their corrspondance with Thetford showing that the Thetford N3150A model as stating ( confirmation that the PCB was part of a faulty batch so they are going to cover all replacement costs) on the N3150A model .I think this would be so helpful to others who may have an issue with this model (Thetford N3150A) Thanks again Steve for the heads up Quote
Derek Uzzell Posted October 29 Posted October 29 This 2022 MHFun thread https://www.motorhomefun.co.uk/forum/threads/thetford-n3000-fridge.258152/ suggests that the problem was endemic to the whole N3000 range, not just to the N3150A model. The thread also mentions that the 'fix' for a failed N3000 PCB will be to replace it with a N4000 pcb (which is what Thetford has authorised in Steve's case). Quote
onecal Posted October 29 Posted October 29 Hi Not really what I asked for? Let's stick to the forum here Again it would be so helpful if someone can that Thetford may have given to them in writing that they will "as it was quoted on this forum" (Had a reply from Thetford and they've confirmed that the PCB was part of a faulty batch so they are going to cover all replacement costs) on the Thetford model N3150A and actually put it up here. If indeed it is so endemic and Thetford did send letters or e-mails addmitting there was a faulty batch on the N3150A (let's just stay with this one model here that was quoted) then this should not be a problem and would again be so helpful to others that may not have had the opporutinty to avail of this gesture outside of warranty on the N3150A model board (PCB) I think this request may be so beneficial to others who may have the same issue with their Thetford N3150A PCB Quote
Derek Uzzell Posted October 30 Posted October 30 Thetford produced the N3000 range of fridges from 2012 to 2019 (when the N4000 range came out). My 2015 Rapido 640F had the same N3150A fridge as Steve's Rapido 665F, but my fridge was still working OK when I sold the motorhome in 2021. So not all N3150A fridges suffered from the fault that has recently afflicted Steve's 2018 replacement fridge. All N3000 'A' fridges had exactly the same Power Control Board (PCB) so - if you want feedback on the PCB fault and Thetford's reaction if the fault occurs and Thetford are contacted - you'd be better to ask about N3000 models generally, not just restrict feedback to the N3150A model. I can find only one other online reference to a N3000 PCB failing and, when contacted, Thetford providing a replacement PCB despite the motorhome being out of warranty - but in that instance the N3000 model was not specifically identified. It's also apparent that the PCB originally fitted to N3000 fridges has been superseded and that a replacement PCB for a N3000 fridge would now be the one used for N4000 models. I believe there's no chance whatsoever of you getting 'owner' feedback on this issue via the Out&AboutLive forums even if you extended the search to all N3000 fridges, rather than just focussing on the N3150A. I suggest you ask Thetford directly (via the Irish Motorhome Club) whether there's a known overheating vulnerability with N3000 fridges' PCBs (or if there was a 'bad batch' of PCBs that can be identified by their reference number). I doubt you'd get a straight answer, but I believe it would still be the best way forwards. Quote
onecal Posted October 30 Posted October 30 Again Derek ,how dissappointing One would think as you said yourself that even on another forum (motorhomefun) suggested that the problem was endemic to the whole N3000 series This may now not actually be the case at all Such a pity , as I feel it would be so benificial to others who may have had that issue with the boards in that N300 series or as quoted on the N3150A model , considering there must be quite a few fitted in Rapido's between the years as quoted on this forum I thought there was no need to ask Thetford as they already gave an answer of addmitting there was a faulty batch on the N3150A (again let's just stay with this one model that was quoted here, ) one would think this would not be a problem and would again be so helpful to others that may not have had the opporutinty to avail of this gesture outside of warranty on the N3150A model board (PCB). Very strange as it was suggested to be endemic within the whole N3000 series Regards Quote
