Leaking water pump

Things are just getting worse. Went for a month touring around mid Germany and first my wife's hairdryer packed in. Then she managed to drop her phone and smashed the glass so it couldn't be used. Then my phone packed in so couldn't be used which wasn't good as it was paired with my sat nav to give live updates so we got stuck several times. When we got off the ferry noticed fridge wasn't working on 12volt and now trying to drain down for the winter and I see the water pump is leaking from where the motor connects to the pump body.

My question, is it possible to get spare seals to repair the pump, or is it more sensible to purchase a replacement 🤔

Thanks

Which pump?

As far as I know, Fiamma sells spare parts kits for their Aqua8 family. Available in many camper accessories shops.

I don't know about Shulflo.

However, given the not excessive price of both, I wouldn't rule out buying a new one.

Your motorhome is a  2016 Fiat Rapido 665F and will have a SHURflo Trail King water-pump (the Trail King 7 20psi model if I remember correctly).  Example advert here

https://www.jacksonsleisure.com/water-pump/shurflo/trail-king/?srsltid=AfmBOorstVWi06PDL2QWfcw8HE2uHd16NUv-2RyUGbubcDMG459pzpwE

Certain spares can be found for SHURflo pumps. GOOGLE-search on shurflo trail king spares or shurflo trail king seals (example advert here)

https://www.leisureshopdirect.com/water/caravan-water-pump/shurflo-pumps/shurflo-trail-king-pump-series-spare-parts

but the first thing to do is to check that the screws holding the pump's head-unit to its body are properly tight. (drawing on link below)

If the screws are tight, the next step will be to establish exactly why the pump is leaking. As your leaking pump is 8 years old, if (say) the plastic casing of the head-unit were cracked, the cost of a new head-unit means repair would probably not be financially worthwhile.

Thanks Derek, I did check the screws and they were fine. The leak occurred when I started using the Floe pressurising kit to empty the pipes. The pump had operated randomly on several occasions which made me think there might be a small pressure drop somewhere. As soon as I applied pressure water leaked out of the joint. As soon as I have time I'll investigate further to see if it's repairable.  Thanks

While on holiday in France in 2018 the pipework of my 2015 Rapido 640F's water system suddenly began to vibrate violently, sufficiently so that we cut the trip short and came home to the UK.

I thought the SHURflo water pump was at fault (as that seemed the logical reason) but replacing the pump with a new one made absolutely no difference. Once the water pump had been judged blameless and I’d investigated further, because I couldn’t access much of the (carefully hidden and 100% inaccessible!!) Rapido’s water system pipework, I sidestepped the problem by rejigging the pipework so that the part of the system in which I believed the problem lay was no longer in use. Fortunately this ploy cured the vibration, but I’ve no idea what the root cause of the vibration was, how a motorhome specialist would have addressed the problem or how long they would have taken.

I dismantled the original pump (a simple enough task), found no visible signs of wear or damage and, having reassembled it, carried it as a just-in-case spare. Naturally, I never needed to fit it and it went with the Rapido when I sold it.

I've contacted Shurflo and they replied with -

It sounds like the diaphragm has failed. That part seals the pump cavity and would need to be replaced. The part number for it is 94-238-05. You would need to source it from a Shurflo retailer or an online dealer.

having done a search a replacement diaphragm is about £40 and a new pump about £60, not sure it's worth it, what else might fail.
